I'm due for a new phone upgrade from Rogers.

Wanna go to smart technology from my current Neanderthal unit.

Not so interested in packages/ texting/ unlimited this and that.

But TALK TO ME about hardware on above two. I'm not interested in BB.

I like Galaxy features. I like IPhone apps.

Discuss and vote boys and girls.

What should I get. Convince me!

I have a galaxy nexus2, the SO has an iphone (big fan)...never touched her phone (not interested) but it seems that she keeps using my phone often (or checking my history) and play whatever games i have there. But I don't really enjoy my phone. I just use it like a phone with a gps, calendar, email, got text msgs sometimes and google. other than that whatelse do we really need from it? still waiting for a new phone that can give me handjobs then i'm all for it.

I have the newest Samsung Galaxy 3 and quite happy with it so far. After a week and a half I don't miss my BB but do feel sadness for their demise.

Yeah I just upgraded from a six generations ago Samsung to a Galaxy III. Although the old phone was fine just for calls and very basic texting the Galaxy III is obviously a couple of quantum leaps more powerful and functional. I'm happy with the upgrade and have no buyer's remorse at all. Can't comment directly on the iPhone as I have no experience but the Galaxy III is quite cool IMHO.

Even tho I've always been an iphone guy (I had a every model) after my friend purchased a Galaxy and I had some playtime with it I like the Galaxy better. Imo the Galaxy is more customizable and I love the camera and vid.

My nex phone will be a Galaxy... I have the i4 now.

After almost 3 years of an abusive relationship with a 3GS I went out and got the Galaxy S3, I have never been happier, the screen is gorgeous, transferring things like pics, music and uhum "educational videos" even from my Mac is easy with a downloaded program.

the galaxy 3, you need bigger pockets for this 'almost tablet' phone...

Then, you might as well go for the iPhone. You're already in Apple's walled garden and you like the apps there.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S I model and an iPhone 4. I prefer the latter but I'll still check out the Galaxy S III next year.

The current iPhone 4s is no match for the current Galaxy S3. In 3 months or so when the iPhone 5 comes out maybe it will be a more even fight. But either you like customizing your phone behaviour and interface and prefer the Android way, or accept what is given to you, prefer a small screen and size, and are in it more for the apps and the iPhone.

The hardware doesn't matter as much as the software, and iOS is in my opinion par excellence. Jelly Bean doesn't even come close in terms of user-interface intuitiveness (to say nothing of older Android versions), and there is a clear difference of culture in the respective app ecosystems. iOS apps generally tend to be of better quality on average, and the App Store fares much better against malware than the Android Market. AFAIK, there has been only one instance of malware making its way into the App Store, and that was a proof-of-concept made by a security researcher that was quickly revoked by the App Store custodians. The Android Market, on the other hand, still has issues with malware. iOS software updates also aren't held hostage by North American carriers, unlike all but 3 Android models (namely, the Nexus line).

That said, I do wish the iPhone's screen were bigger. Rumours suggest that this might happen with the next model, which should be out by early October.

Whats apps do you intend to use ?

Android gives you flexibility and you don't need to 'sync' your media with iTunes.

Go with Galaxy S3.

When I got my first android the Gallaxy S2
-it had better specs than the iphone at the time (not the newest)
-it was cheaper
-it had a larger screen

I replaced it with a note as screen size was big for my uses and I love it although the other galaxy's are great if you want a slightly smaller screen

I like that with android I don't have to associate with other apple products

for example, back in teh ipod days certain file formats don't work on the ipod or you needed to take time to convert to a usable format

currently for the android if I want to put files on I plug in the usb, copy and paste, done

I have an iPhone 3gs and my contract is about to finish later this year. Any girls or any guys who have trouble with programming a remote control - I recommend iPhone. I think of it is sort of like giving a bicycle with training wheels on it so people can't fall over and hurt themselves. Apple puts them in a nice padded cell and spoon feeds selected apps that fall in line with their own corporate marketing direction. Any innovative apps that challenge their own apps or expand the capabilities to an app destined to the next iPhone - doesn't make it.

I got through the restrictions by jailbreaking my iPhone but it is a pain. A friend of mine gave up his iPhone 4 for the Galaxy S II and loves it. I'd like to get the S III but I have time - I'll wait a little longer and see what happens. As far as iPhone - that is in the rear view mirror now.

I think a jailbroken iPhone beats anything out there and makes it almost fully customizable. I haven't played with an S3 yet but the S2 is close enough and I didn't like it.
