I have an opportunity to get an iPhone. Does anyone have any experience in opening them up for Rogers?
Have you used one? If so...your opinions?

Unless you can hack the the iPhone, it just won't work on Rogers' network as of yet. the iPhone will only work in AT&T's network in the US for now (unless you have the would be hack). Plus Rogers data plan is a joke. Its a rip off compared to AT&T's $20 for unlimited data. without unlimited data, the iPhone is useless.

Its just a phone with pretty buttons... my suggestion save your money as it will just be a paper weight for til at least Feb/March for you.

I know there's 'hacks' out there, I've seen it in the papers. Does anyone know anyone who can do it?

ur right about data plans... it's a good job these big corporations are protected by the crtc.

Great, I can buy one and use it on the Fido network.

Does anybody know if Pacific Mall is carrying any unlocked/locked iphone's or is my best bet to get it off CL/Kijiji or ebay?

I don't know if I read this right but I think Roger's is CDMA carrier where as most of the unlocks for Iphone that I have seen have been for GSM carriers such as Bell. I don't know if that is right but I would thoroughly check this out with the carrier first.

The iPhone is nice, but in order for you to take advantage of all the features of the phone you have to purchase a "data" plan. Roger's could give the phone away due to the what they charge for data transfer.

Maybe they're realise what Gillette did with fantastic results: give away the razor and people will have to buy the blades.
