Yes it looks sleek and sexy.

Remind me of those guys driving around in euro sports car's they just bought.

It is still not enough android has taken control of the market and even though apple's numbers still look great,,that's mainly in part to developing countries like India and Chin. Note Apple is no longer the leader in the smart phone market slipping to only 17%. Android holding strong at 33%, Apple is now chasing Android's design of bigger screens, better battery power etc etc.

Droid has got Apple beat on different platforms, Samsung, HTC, and yes Motorola. Would I sell my Apple shares, just after two years cash out and run.

Apparently the answer to this question (is it enough) is a big yes....

Apple announces iPhone 5 preorders top 2 million in first 24 hours

By AppleInsider Staff

Preorders of the iPhone 5 surpassed 2 million in its first 24 hours of availability, more than doubling last year's record set by the iPhone 4S, Apple announced on Monday.

Demand for the iPhone 5 exceeds supply, though Apple said the "majority of preorders" will be delivered to customers on Sept. 21. New orders are scheduled to arrive in October.

"iPhone 5 preorders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal," said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do."

The iPhone 5 will be available at Apple's 356 U.S. retail stores beginning at 8 a.m. local time on Friday. Customers who were unable to preorder in time can attempt to obtain Apple's latest handset at a retail store.

The iPhone 5 is also available through carriers AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon wireless, and will also be sold at select Best Buy, RadioShack, Target and Walmart Stores, as well as Apple Authorized resellers.

Apple will launch the iPhone 5 in a total of 9 countries this Friday, making it the fastest launch ever for one of the company's new devices. A week later, the iPhone 5 will debut in 22 more countries, making a total of 31 before the send of Apple's September quarter.

By December, the iPhone 5 will be available in 100 countries and on 240 carriers. Earlier Monday, Apple's carrier partner AT&T also said it had seen record preorders for the iPhone 5, but did not disclose any specific figures.

Let's remember, AGAIN, your claim of control is useless as 'Androids' is an OS on a number of different phones, where Apple is a single phone OS. You're not making a valid comparison.

Rogers and CIBC to launch Canada's first momobile payments system later this year

bottie is quite an Apple salesman....
He is part of the masses - could you possibly convince one lemming not to follow the crowd over the cliff ?

I read a comparison of the iPhone 5 with the Galaxy S 3 in Mac World. Of course they push the iPhone 5 as a better built phone but if you are buying on specs only - They admit Galaxy S 3 has more features and better specs.

I think the light will slowly shine on iPhone users when (like me) they find that Android performs better than iPhone. Case in point is NFC which Apple suggested is not ready but is equipped in Androids, future Windows 8 and current Blackberry phones. I heard an piece on the Rogers comments on their NFC system which they hope to have in operation later this year:

Rogers (TSX:RCI.B) and CIBC already have announced they will launch Canada's first mobile payments system later this year, giving Canadians the ability to pay with their credit card using a smartphone.

Rogers applied to the federal Finance Department for a licence to offer financial products last September.

Newer BlackBerry smartphones have the ability to make mobile payments as well as some using Google's Android operating system. The new iPhone 5, however does not have Near Field Communication short-range wireless technology to link to credit card information.

Mohamed also said Rogers expects wirelessly connected hydro and parking meters, digital chalkboards, medical equipment and other devices will be a big source of revenue in the near future.

Apple - the world of yesterday - today. :D

The iPhone 5 is not really innovative. I would not go so far as it being the inflection point of the downfall of Apple.

Quote from the 6 month old article:

"NFC payment involves a change in user behavior and requires collaboration among stakeholders that includes banks, mobile carriers, card networks and merchants," said Ms. Shen. "It takes time for both to happen, so we don't expect NFC payments to come into the mass market before 2015. In the meantime, ticketing, rather than retail payment, will drive NFC transactions."

Fact - It's being implemented now.

So you read an article that verifies that Rogers & CIBC are implementing NFC transactions NOW but you locate an past article from obviously a bad consultant that it won't happen. So if I follow this desperate logic - if I find an old article that man can't fly or we cannot go to the moon - we would believe that over reality ?

Android has it, Blackberry has it, Windows 8 will have it, Rogers & CIBC are implementing it, Mastercard & PayPal are implementing it ..... but Apple doesn't hmmmm. How could the other manufacturers and financial institutions get it so wrong ?

I don't know that I would call Gartner a "bad consultant"....

Almost 90% of mobile payments are SMS... clearly it's going to take a while. What drove it in Japan... mass transit (train tickets).

The Rogers / CIBC announcement shows just how immature and fragmented the space is, only applies to CIBC customers, only to Rogers customers, only to Blackberry users (are there any of those left)....

Look at the "success" of Google wallet....

How many NFC transactions happened in Canada in 2012 with a phone?

Let's I am a CIBC customer and I sold my iPhone for the Galaxy S 3 so I can use it.

You are a hardened potential iPhone 5 user ... oh.. you can't use it now ...not in 2013 ..not in 2014 ... well hell - iPhone 5 can NEVER use it!!! You are lining up to purchase a device that is already has obsolescence built into it.

Face it - iPhone is already dated technology. You are actually hoping that technology doesn't advance so you don't miss technology Apple has yet to be able to meet in it's iPhones.

My 55" TV came equipped with digital tuners a couple years before either the US or Canada standardized on them. Can you imagine having to buy new televisions because the manufacturer lacked the know-how or foresight to incorporate this feature ? Yet you (and/or other Apple lemmings) are buying new products already lacking in new evolving technology.

It is obviously your decision to buy obsolete technology but the difficulty is trying to justify it as anything other than fanatical brand loyalty.

Apple - the world of yesterday - today :D

Apple HAS mastered the art of obsolescence quite well.
Fanbois just don't get it....;)
