Got a good deal on one.

Had to google how to turn it off.

Had to create an itunes acccount and install it on my pc.

Had to turn on the wifi in my router (as I decided to go strictly ethernet)

Installed my first app..... a comic reader app

Had to use itunes to drag and drop comic files into itunes to transfer to ipad.

Files could not be transferred as a folder....so had to highlight the files within the folder.

Let's compare that to my andriod phone.

Turn on wifi

Download app

Copy and paste folders of comics from pc to phone.

Presumably you've read all the whining about iTunes yet you still went ahead. Why didn't you simply get an Android tablet?

This is the weird part. Wouldn't the OP have to turn on Wi-Fi already on his router in order for the Android phone's Wi-Fi to work?
Lol guess its unfair the phone has 4g capacity the ipod is wife only.

Im going to learn to live with it and see how kindle hd and surface play out.

The tablet I'd get now (I already have a very cheapo Android tablet and an iPad 2) would be Google's Nexus. If Apple came out with a mini-iPad I might go for that, instead.

who would have thought you couldn't figure out the ipad2 on first try... actually, this happens when people are new to the ios architecture. I went through it too. I have both android and ios devices. The one thing I like better about ios is the automatic and free updates. I have had to change over to new android devices in order to upgrade. Yes, I can't simply update my smartphone or tablet to the latest and greatest version of the operating system. The techie Android fanboy's response to this problem is just "ROOT IT." Though, it's not that easy. Alternative Android device firmwares don't always work with every device. Even the best of them, Cyanogen ICS, can have trouble with some devices.

Another issue is consistency. When you buy an iPhone or an iPad you know exactly what the interface is going to work and look like. With Android devices, you never know quite what you're going to get. We talk about ICS as if it's one thing-and it is from a developer's viewpoint-but ICS on different phones such as the HTC One X doesn't look or feel much like say the Samsung Galaxy S III. Now, if only Google can get everyone on the same page with updates and the interface, I'll be perfectly happy!

My samsung note did an automatiuc update of the operating system for free. Granted it's not a wholesale change to the newest version Jelly Bean (if that is even out)..... that's probably what you meant.

Another thing that seemed counter intuitive that I had to learn via google was why my ipad says not charging when I plug it into a usb port on my laptop. At this point I'm not even sure if it's due to the laptop not providing enough power..... still on my first charge. Will try a wall plug instead.

The USB on your laptop doesn't provide enough juice to charge. Have to wall plug it.

I'm sorry that you don't like your ipad. I'd be happy to relieve you of your burden.

That's what I am afraid of with my unlocked Samsung Galaxy S I.

So kind. I think I'll suffer through the learning curve as I was saving for a tablet and now I can put that money to something else..... a free but inconvieniant tablet is still better than a 500+ tablet that works more to my style.
