I had an interview on Dec 30th , at the end of the interview the manager handed me his card and said he would be making his decision on Sunday . He said he will be in the office on Sunday and to call him or he will call me .

I called and left him a voicemail this afternoon, its now 9pm and I havent heard anything , the not knowing is killing me ... should I call tommorow to see if I got the job or just forget it , since I didnt hear back from him today and assume that I didnt get the job

When I am hiring staff, I usually wait for the candidates to call me. To me it shows that they are interested in the job, also if it is a sales position it proves that the candidate can follow up and ask for an order.

Call him again tomorrow, perhaps he was busy.

I know the feeling Montecore. I was supposed to get a call in Dec. but I found out that the mgr was tired and will wait until Jan "sometime". Next! Who wants to work for a guy like that? Proly expects his people to work harder than he does... not a good sign in my books.

I do not know what the job is for, but if he said he would be in the office today perhaps last night's fun kept him out of the office?

and to call him or he will call me
This part is just weird. When I was going through job interviews after college, I was always told "we will be in touch" or "we will call you later etc.". Why would he not just say "call me" or just say "I will call you". It kind of sounds like someone who shrugs their shoulders and says "oh well".

If you want the job bad enough, call again tomorrow morning (if he is in) until you find out your answer.

I too am looking for work Do you know how many told me they would call at a certain time and I never heard from them or I would call them and of coarse leave a voice, mail and never hear from them. I didnt and dont expect to get every job i go for but dam call back when you say you will. I have been on both sides of the fence and i understand how someone would feel when looking for a job, sure you would be disappointed if you dont get the job but you want to know either way. call the guy and leave a nice but firm message telling him that he indicated to you that you should be hearing from him today. this way he knows you are very eager and that you expect him to keep his word

But why did he say that he would reach a decision on Sunday and not call ?

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
Maybe he had a hangover or something else came up, and he didn't make it into the office....

It might be that you're a good candidate but there is someone at the front of the line they're not sure will want the job. If so, they could be waiting to see if the #1 will accept the job before giving you the final word.

Somewhere between here and there
Interviews

There is no right answer if you call again he might think you are being pushy but maybe not. Also try an email tell him you that you want the job and want to know the status of it. Never forget to ask for the job if you want it goes a long way in the interview.

I recently turned down a job because the owner is a complete dick to work for. I didn't say anything to the HR manager but did my research and found out what happened to the last two people in the job. Helps to research.

Thats what Im thinking , there were over 100 applicants and 8 people got an interview and 4 probably made the cut and I was not the chosen candidate. I cant understand why he told me to call him back on Sunday when he reaches his decision
