What speeds do you require? What do you think your ratio of upload/download is? Ie: will you mostly be downloading it will your service require more of a balance? Do you need a managed service? How critical is it that your system is up? What MTBR do you require?

Basically you can get something as cheap as Rogers Business Service up to Bell's IPVPN or beyond. Got to know what you need first though.

If you are using an xDSL or cable service, you are never going to get what they advertise. If you really want a service that a certain bandwidth is required, you must go with a T1/T3 type of connection. There is no way to beat the reliability.

However, you will pay for it. Depending on the location, a T1 may run you close to 1k per month, but you will get 1.5mbit up and down.

IPVPN is good and realitivley inexpensive, however your service options will be dependant on your location. For example, the Steeles/Weston Rd area has no xDSL IPVPN connectivity - you have to go T1 (full or fractional).

I must ask though, what sort of applications require you to have 3Gbit both ways?

I've heard that Toronto Hydro Telecom is one of the fastest and best.
+1, for business class service, the Hydro Telecoms (Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, etc) can get you 10Mbps or 100Mbps Ethernet service for less than the price Bell wants for T1 (1.5 Mbps) service

6 GB/s? Are you sure about that speed?

Tarkus :

Sorry is 6Mpbs, advertised , we are lucky if we get 2.5 Mpbs Downloads and maybe 500k for uploads

Larry_Fyne:

3Mpbs is not really requied , we can do with 1.5 Mpbs uploads
uploads are important because we do a lot of synchronization over the internet.

T1 will be to expensive , I need to look in to something else

T1 is going the way of the 3.5" or 5.25" disk drives. The price went way down and then is starting to become so scarce that the price going to start rising again as an expensive legacy service.

However your problem with DSL is going to be getting SDSL and not ADSL which is why you were getting only 500k up. Even Bell's eventual 25MB/s service is going to have a paltry 1MB/s upload speed. From a residential perspective it only makes sense to configure the bandwidth to come 'down' the pipe rather than 'up' so the customer can get streaming video, IPTV, etc.

I know Primus offers SDSL as do a few others but I expect it will be seriously impacted by location and a number of other factors and also let's not forget that nearly all of the companies that provide DSL are just resellers. I believe Rogers Business Internet may also provide SDSL as well.
