Internet Explorer memory usage just keeps expanding

This has been occurring over the past 2 or 3 weeks. With Internet Explorer 8 on, after a while its memory usage (as seen in Windows Task Manager) just gets larger and larger until it finally locks up, at which point I have to use Task Manager in order to end its process and shut the application.

I notice that when I first open IE8, it seems to hover around 35-50 mb of memory, this with 2 tab windows open. Tonight after it had been open for a few minutes, it was up over 190mb, without much activity going on.

What is going on here? I didn't seem to have this problem before. Not sure how to fix it.
