Ok you techies... and some of you are very competenet judging from past experience....

Does anyone have a fix for IE8's compatability problems with sites such as Wikipedia?

I tried to find a downlaod for "application/x-gzip-compressed" and got confused and lost in the process...

Thought IE8 was running good by most reports?

Is IE your only browser?
If so get and use Firefox.
This way you have two browsers to use.
I use 3; Opera, Firefox and IE, only when forced to, which is very seldom.

are you using IE8 beta or final release? i think the final release took care of most issues.

calloway pointed you to the right place. Here you can find more details about something called "Compatibility View" built-in IE8 in order to take care of thousands of pages who their designers thought IE is the only solution around, thus, their sites worked and looked best only on this lousy browser!
