I need help to lose some weight, but most of the poular weight loss programs are quite expensive. For example, the Dr. Bernstein Weight Loss Program costs at least $600 a month. I can afford to pay $200 a month, maybe $300 a month. Are there any effective weight loss programs that cost that much or less?

You'll starve on 600 calories a day with Bernstein. Weight Watchers is cheaper 16 bucks a week and is considered one of the better ones. Harvey Brooker has also a good program for men ..I think its 1500 for 6 months.

Don't eat take out or processed foods. Exercise at home, go jogging, push ups, sit ups. Things they did years ago before marketing millions began the fad of losing weight and getting healthy. Look on youtube for other idea on working out at home or around the track.

Drinking 4L of water a day goes a long way also, dont start with drinking 4L though, it'll taste like shit by day 3, water will flush your system natually and within 4 to 6 weeks you'll see the difference. Take pictures, make a video diary of how you feel that day as something to always look back at.

I've heard about this guy, but cannot say that I've been, nor that I can recommend.

I find dieting makes me really unhappy. But I hear where you're coming from. Could stand to lose 20 or 30 pounds myself.

imo, you don't need any of that crap

eat whatever you want, just count the calories

go to the grocery store and spend some extra time reading the labels

stay away from restaurants as much as possible ... if you have to eat out, check out the nutritional info on the restaurant's website

bonus: you'll save money too

i believe that will place your body in starvation mode, in which you will not lose weight at all

2000 cal usually works for most people, along with regular exercise

In all honestly, try this.

Cut the sugars out completely. Pop and energy drinks, WORST SHIT EVER, avoid.
Eat 5 meals a day - 3 square ones, with 2 snacks in between.
Learn the Glycemic Index.
Eat whole wheat breads, grains.
No white breads/rice, no processed foods.
Lots of greens.

Watch yourself lose weight, even if you just cut the sugars and do fuck all for a month.

I cut sugar out a week before New Year to now and easily lost 5-8lbs. I'm happy with my height/weight, I just wanna shred up a bit more.

There's an awesome site called myfitnesspal and it has phone apps for all the platforms. It basically counts calories for you and sets a daily goal. The database is immense and the bar code scanner is great to scan the foods you eat. Since I started on it last Aug I've lost 16 pounds. Have plateaued a bit now but it still helps with maintenance as I was lot lighter before but immediately went back up when I started to eat carbs again!

South beach Diet.
Buy a couple of books at Chapters and follow the advice.
Relatively easy to follow. Very easy to sustain for life.
It relies on smart choices with real food, so you can even follow it while travelling, etc.

When I was fat, it seemed impossible and overwhelming to try to lose the total I wanted to lose. But it seemed very doable to lose 5 lbs., so that's what I set out to do. When I did I thought that wasn't so hard, I can do that again. Eventually I lost 5 lbs. 16 times. Doing it with this mindset gave me regular accomplishments, even though they were small ones.

Don't eat until you're full, just eat until you're not hungry. You'll shrink your stomach. I've been eating this way for years now, and I couldn't eat what most people consider a full meal. Well I could, but then I'd throw up.

I'm not religious about it, but mostly I avoid carbs and go heavy on protein. Sugar is still a big weakness for me.

Exercise...I didn't even start until I had dropped 30 lbs. I focus on strength-training, mostly because I just hate cardio so much.

I didn't go to any official weight-loss program, but I know several people who've had great success with Weight Watchers.

Good luck...be patient with yourself, and remember that one cupcake does not have to blow into a 10,000 calorie binge.

A heavyset guy sees an ad that reads "Lose weight. Only $10 a pound. Call (202) 555-0238" and decides to make the call. The operator asks, "How much weight do you want to lose?" "Ten pounds," he replies. "We’ll have a representative over in the morning," says the operator.

About 9 a.m., there’s a knock on the door. There stands a fairly good-looking girl, completely naked except for a sign around her neck reading “If You Catch Me, You Can Have Me.” The hefty fellow chases her upstairs, downstairs, and all around the house. Finally, panting and wheezing, he catches her. After they have sex, he runs to the bathroom and weighs himself. He’s lost 10 pounds!

That night he calls the number again and says, "I want to lose 20 pounds." "We’ll send someone over." The next morning, he’s greeted by a gorgeous girl dressed only in track shoes and wearing a sign around her neck that reads “If You Catch Me, You Can Have Me.” The chase takes a good while longer this time, but later he finds he’s lost 20 pounds!

That night he calls and says, "I want to lose 50 pounds!" "Fifty pounds?" the operator asks. "That’s an awful lot." The man replies, "Listen, just take care of it!" About 7 a.m. the man hears a knock and opens the door. Outside stands an enormous gorilla with a sign around its neck that reads “If I catch you…”

I've heard of this diet by Dr. Poon spoken highly of by some female co-workers.

The perk is it can be covered by OHIP.

I agree.

If you have the self-control and willpower to go on a fancy diet plan for $XXX/month, then you have the self-control and willpower to go for a good hard run every day, or to swim 40 laps, and to stop eating sugar and starches and all that other crap that our bodies aren't built to process. Stop snacking at work (or snack on carrot sticks instead of danishes), drink wine or spirits instead of beer (will reduce bloating, anyhow), walk to the grocery store instead of driving, all that shit. It 'just' takes willpower.

Poon is covered by ohip but its low carb if you're willing to go for an extended period without bread, pasta, pizza, sweets. If you start eating these cabs you will regain you're weight back.
