Why is a warmer than usual winter called "Indian Summer"? What is the origin of this term? Why is it not called, say Canadian Summer or Artic Summer which might be more appropriate?
Comments anyone?

the sun lowers itself

And begins reflecting the debris in the sky, giving it a variant hue of purple to yellow, most deep red lining on the cloud horizon. It sets in the west, the skies of the west become brilliant with colours, not much to the east, because the sun rays are deflected through the debris it has already caught.

To my simple knowledge, it reflects the immigrants opinion of the red skin, its their time. Not red neck, those are white workers, red skins, the colour of the aboriginals.

In the 18th and 19th century, before winter, the Natives would be completeing their hunting and begin their harvest ceremonies in respect to the animals who have shared themselves to help them survive the winter. The immigrant caucasians understood the sun dance to some degree and other spring ceremonies, etc. but could not understand the late fall ones. Death ceremonies occur in the late of october. Inquiring on their origins to only hear they are speaking to the dead and undead. The participants face the west, where it is believed the dead spirits lye. The skies in the west would turn a firery red, and the others feared this as they didn't know the Natives intentions. It became warmer during the day and the skies drew redder at night. Fearful of the outcome, the Whites would attack, (read about the fall of 1890(the fall of the ghost dance) and just how chicken the milatary and the press became of such ceremonies).

For a woman, the october full moon, is the most populated for moon ceremonies, time to reflect and accept passage of their blood. The skiies turn red, believed to be the blood they have shed onto mother earth from the years past, coming back into the sky producing life on the ground. (moon time, a womans monthly moon is the mother soft and the sun is the father, firery)

But for my simple mind, its cause the sky is exhibiting red hues, and can be noted for the redskinned people.
