Having a socialist mayor in Buffalo won't help redevelop its economy, which is what that city has needed ever since the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway. However, the GOP establishment don't think they can win over poor voters (30% poverty in Buffalo), so they're not even fielding a candidate. All this development really demonstrates is how the Democrats continue to move even further towards socialism at their grass roots. When they field enough socialist mayors, state legislatures will be next, and ultimately congressmen and senators. Biden may have been able to fool the public in 2020 into thinking that he was centrist by claiming to have "beaten the socialist", but that tactic will never work again.
