Incompetent Coworkers?

I am in a custom manufacturing industry, primarily in the sales end of things.

At my place of employment, there is one person who is in a key position when it comes to the final production of our product. And he is incompetent. He doesn't report to me so I have no particular ability to give him shit. He has been at this company much longer than I have been.

Routine revisions are almost always made incorrectly, which causes real delays in production. I am trying to sooth a client today who is not going to get his product when he wants it because this clown has screwed up twice (or even three times) with this job now.

I like this guy, but he's bad at his job which is causing the company (and me) to loose business.

How do I deal with this???

Go to your superior & tell him/her what you have told us. I have been in the same boat a few times. I am in charge of sales for my company & I have had to go to the Production manager more than once regarding incompetent employees in critical positions.

Ya, I guess there's no way to avoid it. I have a meeting with the owner on Monday... I'll sneak it into the agenda I guess.

I like this guy, but he puts as much care into his job as I do scratching my ass. Apart from delays, his errors make me look like an idiot in front of clients. Ugh.

This thread was created, as well as several other threads also replied to by the OP, during working hours. This makes me assume that youre a fuckup also. He's screwing up in production, your starting and responding to threads on a sex review site. Hmmmm doubel standard?

Actually, I am on vacation this week... but working every day while doing it...

I should add that I am paid commission. If I don't do my job well, I starve. This guy is having a direct impact on my ability to do my job well, which in turn directly effects my income. He is paid hourly. If he shows up, he gets paid.

Thanks for your concern Pedro. Now go punch your timecard.

People are entitled to breaks, but seriously...on a sex review site? Come on.

Just a few different post times.

I just think its funny when people complain on a escort review board about co-workers wasting resources, and costing the company money.

In case you missed my earlier comment, I work on commission. My time is my own. I work primarily from my home, hotel rooms and on the road. My Blackberry doesn't stop between the hours of 6 AM and 11 PM when I turn it off. I have responded to 172 emails today so far... and I am on vacation. The distinction between "vacation" and "working" is pretty vague in my life. I guess the only difference is that I haven't been into my office all week.

I wasn't complaining about him wasting company resources. I was complaining about doing his job badly. He appears to work pretty hard. Just not very well. If he did his job properly, I don't give a fuck if he sits in the corner playing with himself once his work is done.

On that note, I feel your pain...every workplace has them and we all wonder how the hell they got where they are.

Gawd i missed TERB, people are so easy to wind up.
