Considering the ages of the accused, gross indecency is much more fitting!
Couple arrested for acts in New Phila restaurant
New Philadelphia police arrested a couple for inappropriate sexual acts allegedly performed Wednesday afternoon in a booth at a fast food restaurant.
Charged each with one count of public indecency, a misdemeanor, are a 70-year-old New Philadelphia man and a 59-year-old Dover woman.
The incident happened in Hardee’s at 2333 E. High Ave. and was reported by restaurant employees and a customer about 4:15 p.m.
Traffic Officer Shawn Nelson said this wasn’t the first time police received reports about the same two people performing lurid acts in the parking lot or inside the restaurant.
However, he said, the couple usually was gone prior to officers’ arrival. Wednesday, police were able to catch the pair, who reportedly admitted the accusations.
In addition to criminal charges, the couple was banned from the restaurant, which apparently didn’t go over well with the woman. Nelson said she was appalled by the ban.
“The restaurant handled this absolutely perfect. I applaud them. Absolutely, they’re a victim of this as much as the public is and they handled it appropriately,” Nelson said.
He added the restaurant has taken all precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
The two are expected to appear today at 4:15 p.m. in New Philadelphia Municipal Court for arraignment.
