I want to go on overnight date to Niagara Falls with a non pro.

Any recomendations for dinner (I prefer upscale steak and seafood) and Sunday brunch?

And any recommendations for hotel?

I have never done the Niagara on the Lake tour. Is it worth it at this time of the year? (I would prefer to keep my date from outlet mall shopping).

Maybe not as "upscale" as you want, but The Keg on the 9th floor of the Embassy Suites is very good. (We DO like the Keg a lot...) Ask for a table along the windows and you'll have a great view of the Falls. I think they still do fireworks at 10:00 pm as well.

Last time Mrs. CG & I went we had a great view, and Copycraigs got us a real nice jacuzzi suite in a nearby hotel for a great price too. Mrs. CG was highly motivated that night! ;)

Say hello to Amber-Jade for us! LOL!

We got a Dennys! There's also a TGI Fridays!

Copa Cabana down in the falls is pretty good too. It's a Brazilian style buffet restaurant (they bring the food to your table type of deal). It is really good, I haven't had a bad experience there.

Instead of a hotel, why don't you look into the bed and breakfasts in the area? There are some really nice ones in the Niagara region that are only minutes from the Falls themselves, and can be a lot more 'cozy' of an atmosphere.

The Embassy Suites definitely have the best rooms with the best views. Book one of the Jacuzzi suites, they are upgraded and have fantastic views. You will also get breakfast with your room.

IMO most dining in Niagara Falls is terrible, overpriced, and nowhere near as "gourmet" as they claim. There are few really classy places where you get any value for money at all. Maybe try Casa Doro, its a little less of a tourist trap and has some decent entree's in a good atmosphere.

Couldn't that limit the amount or type of nighttime activity the OP might want to have. Not always as much privacy/anonimity in the typical B&B as compared to a hotel/motel

I hope that you mean "Casa Mia" on Portage,

Casa Doro is a large need of a face lift.

If you get away from the tourist falls area the dining is cheaper. I've never had a bad meal at Johnny Rocco's on Lundy's Lane at Dorchester. There's always the Flying Saucer on Lundy's Lane just to say you survived it!

Ok, I'll just say Ontario.
Make sure you're watching the falls at 11 pm on Saturday when they shut the falls off to do routine maintenance on the Sir Adam Beck hydro-electric generation plant. If you've never seen it before, it's amazing. Get there at least a half hour early to get a good view off the Niagara Parkway. Bring a camera or video.

There's a great view of that procedure from Fallsview The Keg actually! ;) In fact they give you a free $100 gift card if you happen to be there when they do it.

Really!? I'll have to do that sometime. Love those free gift cards. I've got an awesome video of pretty much the last drop going over the falls. Beautiful. The silence was deafening. I'll never forget it.

I agree, the Keg @ Embassy suites is awesome. make reservations though and ask for a window table. the view is awesome especially if there's fireworks.

1/2 NL at Casino Niagra, then Lucky's Steakhouse at the casino which is better than the Keg, and then the Sundowner.
