After 40 years on this planet as an educated, well-employed and properly-raised Black Man in Canada I find it sad I still have to scream this internally sometimes, and taper my expectations when interacting with people (and some brands of sex worker in general).
Here's a funny video (below) to illustrate what I'm talking about, but the catalyst of this post was yet another disappointing strip club experience (in Montreal for context). Dancers SELDOM approach me (and the hot white ones NEVER). I'm dressed in normal, clean, non-ghetto apparel (sometimes I wear a suit just to be taken seriously and then I will get the occasional bite), no worse than the white patrons scattered all about me getting approached... Some are young pups that can barely rub 2 $10-bills together for a couple of dances (it's still $10 a song in Montreal at a lot of places), others are the mid-life 50+ gents that probably do actually have a little money to burn.
I wanted several dances (I always do 6 minimum at Montreal prices, normally 10) but I like a dancer to actually make an effort to introduce herself so I can gauge her personality/avarice, so I'll usually sit back and hope an interesting one comes to me (unless there's a STUPID hot girl I simply must have, and then pride be damned. lol) After 40 minutes of patiently surveying the roster, I watched over a dozen dancers work the room, but they all followed the same pattern: they hopped over every single black guy (~12-15 out of 60-80 people) in the club and solicited only the non-blacks with the exception of one East-Indian dude in a 3-piece suit (ironic, because the cheap S.O.B. literally did TWO songs, meanwhile my black a$$ had $200 at the ready if I met a nice lady).
I will say this: looking at SOME of the Black patrons, I didn't blame them: way too many L'il John/Wayne wannabes were up in that club and I wouldn't want some potentially-ghetto dude pawing at me either. But there were also some regular-looking black patrons that might have liked a dance if approached (or did the approaching themselves), and if you're not engaged/making any money currently: what does it hurt to TRY?
3 dancers were lounging right BESIDE me, and not one even looked my way. I finally smiled and waved at one in passing who was just chatting the end of her night away, and she told me "1 minute, I'm just saying bye to some people"... 15 minutes later (bar wasn't closing for another HOUR), she's still chatting while I'm sitting within view 15 feet away. So I gave up and saved my dollars for another night where I'll hopefully find someone more deserving of my hard-earned (and reasonably ample) salary. According to Canada 2015 stats I'm just in the Top 10% nation-wide yet still appear to be regarded as the bottom 10%.
So I guess my little rant/PSA to the SPs of the world (and people in general) is this:
Take care everyone, and have a safe/happy holiday season. Spread the love to ALL peoples where you can.
