I left some big folded up cardboard boxes out in my backyard a little while ago and went to put them in the recycling this morning. In one of them I found a cat nursing three little kittens! I'm a mom! LOL

They're still very young (guessing 4 or 5 weeks) and am thinking about keeping all of them but four cats is a lot... but if anyone is looking for a kitten, I might have one or two available soon. The mother also almost looks like a kitten and is very friendly. :)

I already have two. They will need shots and worm tests very soon. The mother right away and the babies at 6 months. I keep pet insurance for my three animals. Congrats, there is nothing more tender than little kittens. I have had up to 4 and it is doable- cleaning out the litter box twice a day. It can get expensive. Try to get them started on a nutritious food right away rather than fancy feast. Mine got started on fancy Feast which is junk food and I can't get them off of it. Pet Stores have a wide selection of good healthy alternatives. Enjoy and take lots of pix- they grow so fast. You can tell how big they will be by the size of their paws.

Thanks. :) I had cats most of my life but haven't had one in a few years.... I am concerned about the cost of four cats because I'll have to get them all spayed/neutered, shots, etc. Gave them a can of tuna this morning and going to buy some cat food today for the mom - the kittens are still nursing.

That's how my cat came to live with me. She was outside (at Christmas time) with 3 kittens. In my case, someone had dumped my cat because she was very friendly and quite a talker. (Feral cats are very wary and silent.) Damn them for dumping my little cat, but thanks to them I have a great little friend. She's been here 6 years now and I wouldn't give her up for a million dollars. (Seriously.)

Good luck and hope you keep the mom. You can always contact Toronto Cat Rescue and they can put the kittens on their website.

Hey Mom, I'd help you out but I have 5 of my own,LOL but I understand there's a place to neuter them at a fraction of the cost. Let me find out and Ill pm you.

My little Felix was part of the litter that his Mom had in the wood pile in the back yard where I used to live. He and his brothers and sisters, as well as his Mom, stayed a very long time with us. He was the runt of the family and lived more than 21 years with us.

Congrats on your new true friends! You are truly blessed!

Aww congrats! I would love a kitten, but found out like a year ago I have developed an allergy to cats. It's so weird, I've had cats on and off until 17. My friend got a cat about a year ago and I was at her place, all of a sudden I was sneezing, congested and itchy. I thought maybe it was that one time, but every time I am around cats, the same thing happens. There goes my crazy cat lady dream...
