All is not lost for Michael Ignatieff, the former Liberal leader who led his party to a historic defeat in Monday’s federal election.

The former journalist and Harvard lecturer, who stepped down as party leader on Tuesday, will become a senior resident at the University of Toronto’s Massey College.

I'm surprised he didn't high-tail it back to Boston.

Not difficult, I guess he got an offer here that he liked.

Vince Del Mastro, the ultimate used car salesman, says this shows that Iggie was in it only the notoriety as he doing what the Conservatives said he was going to do and going back to the US; HUH!

Good for Iggy.

I wish him well. For whatever reason, he didn't appeal to Canadian voters, however, without a doubt, he was the smartest of the 3 of them, and the most honest. (Probably why he didn't succeed as leader of the liberals.) He would often times "wing it" when it came to making speeches, he didn't use a teleprompter, he genuinely listened to people.

I think there are many reasons he lost, not the least of which is people tend to vote with the herd. Adscam is still fresh in everyone's memories, Haper's Attack ads questioning his commitment to Canada worked, you name it.

I for one would LOVE to be in one of his classes. I think he's making a good decision and he's a born professor.

And to those idiots above who slag him - let's see your academic credentials and when you become a Professor at U of T, you can comment. Until then however....
