I recently got a job doing the graveyard shift at Tim Horton's at Dufferin and Eglington (yeah I know, big mistake but it was either that or move home), and the last two nights have had freaks you would not believe. There's a lot of homeless and a bit of street action in that area, but the last two nights have been two much. two nights ago this psycho alcoholic (who the woman I work with insisted was harmless) who was pushing 50 dropped his pants in the store in front of two horrified teenage girls who he had been harrassing. As if that wasn't bad enough the freak tonight topped it. This rather nasty street hooker lost her keys and was stuck outside her apartment with a Jon in tow (plus I believe she was high, at least on coke) and for some god awful she decided to lift up her skirt (no underwear) and pulled her lips apart in front of all the guys smoking in front of the store, and then started humping one of the guys leg! I'm really scared about tonight, because if trouble really comes in threes I think this one goes guy, girl, SHEMALE! (it could go guy, kind of ugly woman, good looking woman, but I prepare for the worst.)

Willy to go with a woman this questionable I'd have to lose my mind first, because I'd lose my health after.

Hey Grammage I know what your talking about. I live just around the corner from Duff/Eg on a small side street off Oakwood. When I first moved there last Sept. I checked out a couple bars on Eglinton and quickly discovered that there are a lot of ‘wakkos’ in that area. Hence I don’t go to any of the bars in that area anymore. A bar just down the street half a block from Oakwood got raided a couple months ago… guns and drugs were found all over the floor. Seems when LE came in everybody just emptied their pockets on the floor and tried to flee. After years of living in The Annex I sort of regret (sometimes) having moved there. If it were not for the fact that I got such a good deal on a one bedroom apt (entire first floor of a house with huge back yard and private entrance etc) that I am renting from friends of mine I would move back to The Annex in a second.

yeah it's quite a group of drugies and bums. I'm suprised how bad it is considering how many cops come into Timmies (by the way to any LE snooping around the board all LE drink for free, and at night you get everything free, so come on by)

In Rome with the Pope
LOL...

I know exactly where you are talking about... I lived on Northcliff for 2 months... Oh man... The freaks looking in my window and the guy trying to bust my patio door in...

Then to top it off... Well lets just say that is not for polite conversation... GOOD LUCK!

I know the area quite well too. I lived at Oakwood and Rogers until I was 18. Mind you, that was back in the days when there were no such druggies and wierdos in the area. It's gone down hill quite a bit since then. Now I live in an area much like that, cabbagetown. Lots of wackos around here too. Just be tough gramage, you'll do fine.

wackos and druggies...

Two different sets of people. (although some are both). When I was saying lots of wackos in the bars around that area... was not referring to druggies.

I went to a couple bars in the area (close to Timmies) and the conversations I over heard were... well let's just say I thought I was in a psych ward not a bar. The drug bust was down the street a bit closer to Oakwood. Further to that I (against my better judgement) bought a beer for someone in a bar just across from Timmies... she instantly lets into me with all her life problems (this person was really psyched out, she didn't need drugs) downs the beer in 10 mins flat and then... "can you buy me another one?" That was enough for me. LOL.

Dufferin and Eglinton

Gramage:

Perhaps you should keep a journal of your Tim Horton adventures. It'd be off to a rousing start with what you just described. I've somehow gained the impression you're an English Lit major. Comments in another thread about Shakespeare and Homer? Anyway, this would all be grist for a writer's mill.

And remember that the Fairbanks Hotel is just up Dufferin from where you are. Cheap lap dances of varying quality await.

My parents still live in the area so I'm sometimes near that Tim Hortons. Usually I give it a wide berth but this time I may drop in to get a couple chocolate glazed and see the man named Gramage. Guess I'll just look for a young guy with hairy palms.:p

theatre major actually, an aspiring actor and this crap will be a future stand-up bit. Thankfully last night had no flashers, although I had one lovely gay bashing guy, who when I joked that I guess he wouldn't be going to the pride parade responded with "if I do it will be with my shotgun" and when I asked if the coffee was all he wanted he said "yeah I have to save money for bullets" , not pleasent, but at least he kept his pants on.
