Hi

I never knew these kind were online, I'm still on "pong for PC" lol
Neat, now I can practice more before I put SOCOM back online. I was terrible compared to others.
It looks like a good game. Nice find

anotherhappy,

I loved DoD until they added autorun to it. :(

Is there any way to turn it off?

Cheers,

djk- unfortunately no, there's only running, crouch-walking and crawling.

If I remember correctly, Counterstrike has the same thing? There's just running and (crouch) walking really slow?

Paul if you liked Splinter Cell you are gonna love Metal Gear Solid, almost the same idea of sneaking around and avoiding fights with great storyline, graphics and all

MGS2 is horrible.

In terms of stealth, its sad. All the game is hide and seek with very little cool gadget, imo.

Sure, there's some pretty cut scenes with a nice story but as the game progresses, it seriously stops making any sense.

Hopefully, Hideo learns from Splinter Cell.

anotherhappy,

You're correct on CS.

With DoD, I just feel that you run far too fast opposed to CS, etc.

It really ruined the game for me. I believe walking should be default unless the player enables the "always run" option.

HALO

So far for story and game play I enjoy Halo even though I can't finish it. But CS is awesome in Multiplayer mode I like the missions. Some of the new games are getting really difficult to manage they should keep the controls simple.

Gun aim, switch, reload
Movements
Straffing buttons
Climbing, jumping, crouching

This is one reason that a PC is better then the game platforms the controls are difficult on a joystick.

Halo being the exception I especally enjoy the vehicle.

Paul,

You might want to check out Hitman II. I only played it a bit since it was rented, but found it very similar to Splinter Cell.

I play a few pc games online! latest being RCTW(Return to Castle wolfenstein) great game!!

Problem with pc games online is that many people use hacks to cheat which makes the game pointless!! for instance in Half life (CS,TF) you can hack the game by using certain hacks such as OGChttp://193.111.198.91/site/test2.php?PHPSESSID=27881da12ff97c3bf50553cd6763d552 which allows you to see through walls ,auto aim, speed etc.....there is also a spectator hack which can be quite a pain if someone is using it! allows them to glide through walls and kill without you seeing your opponent!
Half life is a lost cause now as Quake2 and 3 are!,in Quake you can use a proxy bot called the "ratbot"also the zbot which gives you auto fire ,360 degree vision which means your killing guys without even seeing them!!!
many of these hacks can be used on similar games that use the same format.

I'm really enjoying xbox online! nice to play a game without people cheating!!:p

HALO

I am at the part in the spaceship where you have to get to the pickup spot with the Warthog... I've gotten to the pickup but never have time to get to the escape ship after the drop ship gets blown up.

Any help would be great.

ratbot... I remember ratbot and zbots when I used to play QII.

Of course, I took great pride in the fact that I could usually beat a bot if they were playing on dialup vrs my cable. I just needed to bounce around a lot and railgun them quick...

The Xbox and PS2 offer a relatively cheat free environment. However, it seems to me that most games seem to need some major patches and updates. How do the consoles handle that?

Re: HALO

Kurt,

You are at the very last part of the game. Once you get to the evac ship. you are done.

I found that taking off without waiting for the drop ship to blow up, then avoiding the mini-ramps on the road, buys you a few precious seconds.

The trick is getting to the ship once you leave the Warthog. I think when I finished it, I jumped out of the Warthog, and approached the ship from the left, instead of straight up the middle. The ship is on a rasied platform. If you run along the left of the platform, there is a ladder at the very back left edge of the platform that you can climb to get to the ship.

Good luck man, hope it helps...
