If you watch the slow-motion, magnified part towards the end, there's a shower of sparks that sprays his chest when he's zapped. Also, the timing of the killed lighting in the upper right is perfectly synced with the arcing.

Finally, his body is reacting correctly - head snapping back, fists/arms clenching, and then legs pushing him forward.

I'd say it's probably real.
