I can't help but notice that there seem to be a lot of people on here that still hold ICQ accounts...I didn't realize that ICQ still existed!! How many people are still using ICQ and is it any better for meeting people then MSN or Yahoo?

ICQ ... wow. That was like in the 90's. I don't think it's being used by anyone anymore.

Sure ICQ and even MIRC are around. General mistrust of Yahoo and Microsoft will ensure neither legacy service is about to die.

Is it better? Hard to say because it all depends on what you are looking for. There are probably more 'hardcore' players in specific areas on ICQ or MIRC simply because it has been around so long. MSN/Yahoo are big simply because they ensured that they appealed to teens but if you want to get into specifics there are probably more aligned people on the legacy systems and more child predators on MSN/Yahoo.

Other than that I don't see anything that my MSN account can particularly do that ICQ cannot?

YMMV

I should have been more clear on my question of 'is it better'. I meant specifically for people in this hobby or looking to meat people (spelling intentional :D )

HA...MIRC...totally forgot about that one too...LMAO.

I wonder if I can still pull MP3s off BBSs?

As I said it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to try and pick up some 14 year old and wind up on Dateline next Friday use MSN. If you want to find someone who is into something interesting ICQ/MIRC.

Just an SP? Probably MSN/Yahoo.

Here
Some countries, in particular Russia, still use ICQ heavily for chat. You can go on there and do a search for age range and city and find some pretty hot foreign girls - if you're ever thinking of travelling there.

Why does this response make me want to alert Dateline about you?

I am glad I am not the only one who has thought of this and this has worked for me in my travels :D
