I don't worry much about the brand but Haagen-Dazs spread on a well shaved kitty will be real tasty. yumm...

Not technically ice cream but I prefer gelato so FWIW...

La Paloma is pretty good and I've enjoyed it for years. GBiggest variety of flavours and good quality ingredients. Loved the place!

Until I found Il Gelatiere on Mt Pleasant just south of Eglinton. Their use of really high quality ingredients like pure nut pastes is noticeable to my palate.

There is a new Gelato place on Danforth too that is pretty good.

Hollywood Gelato on Bayview? Meh. Ok, but way overhyped and less selection.

Soma Chocolatiers simply cannot be beat for any chocolate flavored gelato. The use of on site roasted and crushed cacao beans is unreal. Hard to find better chocolate anywhere you may go in the world.

All of the above make for a great casual romantic afternoon date or an after dinner excuse to extend a good dinner or lunch date.
Have to agree about Soma. But I also quite like Hollywood Gelato.

Tom's Dairy Freeze - Practically an institution... It's a little west of Parklawn on the Queensway.

Kawartha Dairy is supposedly good for commercial ice cream.
I had ice cream this weekend from an ice cream parlor in Muskoka. They carry Kawartha Dairy.

I can't begin to tell you how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING this ice cream is!!!! OMG so good ~ like the best ice cream I have ever tasted! Like ... unbelieveable..... I'd love to find a place that carries it downtown.

If you ever try it - Cocounut (with toasted bits of coconut in it), Birthday Cake (talk to me later...), Cotton Candy (whaaaat?) and Mint chocolate (always my favourite) come highly recommended. (lol - I had licks of everyone's cones (that really doesn't sound right :p)

They used to make this pineapple orange flavour which was my favourite...sadly, they have decided to discontinue it...

La Paloma is Gelato and price is premium.Same for Hollywood Gelato.

Never tried any of the above. I just pick up some Haagen Daz when it's on sale. $3.33 at Metro this week.
Yes, La Paloma is expensive. There's Bar Sicilia on College, but any good Italian ristorante or cafe should have good gelato.

Up north in cottage country, you can go to the Kawarth Dairy outlet, and their ice cream is delicious!

Of course, there's Demetre Cafe.

I was talking to a guy that runs a "soft serve" cart at a carnival. They call it "soft serve" because its NOT ice cream.

Anyhow, he told me that the product he was selling as an oil byproduct and his cost per cone was about 7 cents.

Since then I only buy Kawartha Dairy ice Cream, readily available here in Peterborough...
