Is there a way to block those little annoying I ads that pop up on my i phone?

Try Settings > Safari > Block Pop-Ups.

The reason Android gets free Angry Birds, Sound Hound (I had to pay with iPhone) is because of pop-up ads so I'd take this with a grain of salt.

If you are technical - look into jailbreaking your iPhone - I'm sure there are ad blockers available. On Android - you can root your phone and look for an ad blocker. Both these options aren't for the technical novices.
