I was out with a chick last night and she asked me a tech question. She asked me how she transfers songs from her CD to her ipod. I think that is what she asked me. Can anyone help me with this?

First of all, you can't directly copy music from a cd onto your ipod. I believe that you have to convert or rip the music from the cd (if it is in fact an audio cd not a cd-rom) into an mp3 or other music file format.

Then you can download it to your ipod.

The determining factor (since I don't own an ipod) is whether the ipod can play cda type files. But it's been a while since I copied an audio cd but if memory serves, there is no file id tags or filenames on an audio cd. So at least you'd have to rename all the files.

Download and install iTunes. Place CD into computer, and select import. iTunes will import all songs from the CD into a format playable by an iPod, and most likely add all the necessary tags (unless it is an obscure disc).

Then plug in the iPod. Depending on how it's set up, it will either automatically sync with the new songs, or you can do it manually by dragging and dropping them on the iPod on the left hand side.
