I have been thrifting for years but it seems like the quality of things in stores is so much better these days. Just picked up a great suit that retails for $995 for just under $20. Great fit and colour. It is also a relatively recent model/style.

Bought a $60 original piece of 19th Century art from Japan and an art dealer I know valued it at $1,500 to $2,000. So much more at rock bottom prices. I have sold many other things for 5 to 10 times more than I paid, and occasionally more. Given a lot away to family who appreciate nice things.

You read stories all the time of someone finding some for a few dollars and it turns out to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Have not found that treasure yet but regardless I really enjoy thrifting and so does my partner.

Agreed. Not had anything like your success, but same here. Haven't bought any clothes recently anywhere except at thrift stores. ( I dress down). Seems criminal to pay ten times the price of items you can get at the Sally Anne. On another note. I still have bragging rights on one of my regular sp's. $70.00 per hour for everything. She raised it to $80. during covid, but insisted that we drop it down to $70.00 again. I love "thrifting" her.

I Look for travel mugs in thrift stores… my kid is constantly forgetting them on the job site so I don’t care as much if I only spent $4 on it.

I fully admit I am a fucking idiot when shopping. I buy what I want, when I want and don’t look or think about price.

The amount of money I have just thrown away would probably be enough for my retirement goals and I wouldn’t be padding that with escorting.

Well that is not true, I love sex too much and why not get paid and laid but y’all get the idea. LOL

1 man's junk is another man's treasure.
So true but another’s person junk is absolutely perfect for another. Thrift stores are very popular these days. I am into vintage Japanese dolls and buying them retail could be very expensive. I have found so many in thrift stores lately and for the fraction of the price.

Bought a vintage designer bag that they were going to put on the shelf Looked at it and it was in very good condition. Then looked at the price tag, $8.00. Needless to say I bought it. Went home and googled it. It is from the 1990’s and the original price was $2,700. People are trying to sell the exact same thing online for between $250 and $800. Had one offer for $300. Have to be careful when buying designer things from thrift stores though, as many are fake but if you know what to look for you can be more sure on its authenticity.

I like popping into the occasional thrift store as well.

Last summer I found a vintage Seiko “Capt Willard” watch at Sally Ann. It was not working so they wanted $8 for it. I got it cleaned and tuned up at my watch guy and it’s working perfectly! Here’s a similar one on eBay:
