Hi,

I just made a huge mistake.
I get constant requests for incalls although I only offer outcalls. So I decided to offer incalls one weekend in February. I created the e-mail to send out and I typed in the e-mail addresses under the field cc thinking it was bcc. Right away I realized what I did. I tried calling tech support to retrieve the e-mail but they said it's impossible.
I cannot believe I was so careless, inconsiderate and unprofessional. I am imaging the consequences to the people I e-mailed.
I don't know what to do, I am just so sorry to the people I e-mailed.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?? What if anything can I do. Right now all I'm doing is apologizing.

Paige.

A well know Toronto swinger club did that once, to their whole mailing list. Most people had anonymous hotmail, but some had obvious work accounts. All you can do is apologize.

I would think the people you emailed all value their privacy and therefor would respect that of others, so I don't think any of them knowing each others email addy's is of too much concern. Most people use IMAP accounts for discrete transactions anyway.

Like C Dick said, all you can do is apologise. I would hope that they, being human, would understand that mistakes happen.

Just my 2 cents, if I'm even reading the repercussions correctly.

Paige,

I accidently made the same mistake. Actually it's happened twice. I felt terrible when it was brought to my attention.

Privacy, especially in this industry is very, very important. But, things happen and we all make mistakes.

I advise my clients to create an anonymous email handle through a free email provider such as hotmail or yahoo. That way, if a mistake like this happens again, no one can really be harmed.

I hope that this situation works out for you and everyone involved. Next time, try not to be so quick with the send button, lol.

Here
Amy (from Amy & Bella fame) just did this.... twice from what I have heard from other guys.... and the e-mail addresses on there were a combination of hotmail, yahoo and WORK (business names). Sure, mistakes happen, but discretion, reliability and consistency are such a big part of this business that providers need to do everything possible to protect their clients.

I only really check my work email during the day. Periodically (i.e. Not every day) I'll check my home email after I'm done work.

Through Sympatico I've got a total of 3 addresses - 1 real one and 2 relatively anonymous ones. But if you want to get my attention via email, the best way to do it is through my work email. I suspect others are like me and thus tend to give out their work email addys.

that's too bad

I guess the should be a reminder to most clients to use a fairly anonymous free web based email as their primary "hobby" email

I wouldn't really mind if my address got out in this fashion

That's a very good point red. This is one area where a mass "mailing" should never be utilized. Those who would attempt to do so IMO show a lack of good judgement.

What about...

...when work email accounts are configured to save your emails on the server...and backup tapes of the server are made...and stored offsite...oiy!

No need to have a permanent record of your "transactions".

Before email became common, the simple rule of thumb from a client's point of view was NOT to be contacted in any way unless we contact you.

A phone call is a reply to a telephone message within a specified time, an email is ONLY a reply to an email, etc.

If every provider with a list of names and personal information, which is requested to verify who we are for incall purposes by most providers, used this list to "broadcast" information (e.g. by making "information" telephone calls to her list, etc), this industry would be a lot smaller than it is in size.

If you want to announce something, please use TERB or other industry sites, advertising, etc. to do it. That is what they are there for ... why try to save a few dollars and ruin your business, as many will avoid like the plague any provider OR agency who violates the basic contact rule above.

I've used "mass emailing" to reach my contacts many times. I unfortunately have also forgotten to use the bcc function. I realize the need for discretion, it's very important! But, at the same time, mass emailing is very convenient.

Perhaps an escort should ask the person if they mind having their email address saved and used for future contact, etc.

Also, in this hobby, I'd recommend that we all use anonymous email handles through free email providers.

Since this is a mass mailing and not likely to include personal information about the client, I strongly suspect this will just disappear in the haze of junk email. You know the enlarge your penis, buy Viagra, etc. etc.
