I'm sure we can keep this thread up for years.

For me it is simply the fact that my dad was a huge Leaf fan. Many a night I was forced to watch the Leafs on TV and I grew to hate them intensely. I even hated going to the games at MLG. My dad used to get good tix in the greens about 5 rows up. He tried really hard to make me a Leaf fan. It just wouldn't take. I became, more or less, a die hard Red Wings fan and that really killed my dad. The only thing worse for him is if I had of shown up with a Lafleur or Savard jersey on. That woulda really killed him.

This is what kills me about Leaf haters. They have to get into threads that slam the Leafs instead of making a positive one for their own team. This equates to me the same as a really hot babe that knows shes amazing and everyone wants but you hate her because of all her greatness, all along you still want her and would sell your soul to be near her and be a part of your life. If you arent part of the Leaf Nation (doesnt mean we think we are going to win it all every year..some do yes, most are realistic) you just wont get it and you can go on hating. I actually laugh when I read posts by Leaf haters. Don't like the leafs? Fine, you're entitled. Cheer for another team? Good for you. Fans have their favourites, we can cheer for our team and boo the other teams. That's what it is all about.

mojo is right ..these guys bash the leafs but who are their great teams.....and in the nhl right now and specifically the east...its wide open who is to say we cant make the playoffs, i think we can.......and well get are cup one day.....that goof tthat said it wont happen this year, is it a long shot yes.....but when my team is not good iam not gonna go with them...i am a leaf fan..and always will be...and any haters who have a problem with that an take it up with me.....last year i saw an average at best edm team stumble ass backwards in the playoffs because vcr couldnt close the deal and came within 1 game of the cup....edm while fighting for their playoff lives lost twice to the blues.....they stumbled in as much as you can stuble...and came 1 game away...ill enjoy the season and see what happens and if we dont make the playoffs hopefully we can continue to develop some of are young guys and hope they can take that next step.........losers making i hate leaf posts....

dj1470 was the only person i ever recal openly confessing to be a leaf hater... and with good reason, too.

hammertm seems to get pleasure out of how idiotic some leaf fans can be... doesn't really sound like a leaf hater, more like someone who gets entertainment value for how dogmatic leaf fans can be. he's 100% right, Dimitri and nothing wrong with that, either.

as for me, i wish the leafs well- but, i honestly don't cheer for or against them on most nights. i'm a hockey fan. i have a few friends and people i've met on almost every team. i like to see them do well. i like watching exciting teams.... not necessarily successful teams, but, high risk, intense teams that have alot of spunk in their game. my favourites of late have been Pittsburgh (along with hammertm), San Jose and newly this season, I like Florida Panthers. Ironically, these are the 3 teams with the most cap room available. Not like Toronto and NJ who either have trouble stayin under cap or plan to max out cap space, my teams charge honest ticket prices and spend their dollars wisely...

It's called "Red Sox Syndrome". For a looooooooong time Boston fans were the same way about their team. Generations of families cheering for the Red Sox knowing they would never win. Curse of the Babe and everything. Since winning the Series not so much. Will the Leafs ever win another Cup? Yes. It's called the law of averages. Will it be in my life time? I hope not.

As for my team, Dimitri, making the playoffs? Well they are called the Detroit Red Wings and there is a reason it's called Hockeytown. Exactly how many Cups have the Leafs won in the last 10 years? I seem to recall the Wings winning a few

I must confess I'm a "love to hate the leafs" guy ... and I love watching the non-objective Leaf fans Sit in the sports bar and deny every bad leaf play and penalty.. and refer to the leafs as "WE" , "we" played well tonight .. "we" got jobbed by the refs .. NO you sat in a bar and drank beer , watching the leafs ,... missing an ottawa/ red wings game on some other channel

1)Congrats to ALL the fans who booed the leafs last night .. it'll never happen but if the fans closed their wallets and stayed away ,, the leafs would be a much better team in 1 season.

2) Thanks to Leaf fans for adding additional entertainment to the Sport..

And I've been a Detroit fan since they drafted Stevie Y... but of course at that time the leafs had the wunder kid Wendel , they (Leafs) put the wings out of the playoffs a few times .. but the wings (no no wait WE )went from worst to a few cups.. the leafs ...not so cuppy ......

at any rate ya can't beat the great frozen game !!
