Funny how no one is saying anything about them today, after they easily crushed the Ukraine 3-0. Other than a couple of close calls in the second half,it was all Italy. Buffon clearly showed why he is the highest paid netminder in the sport. Now,on to face Germany, who looked less than stellar yesterday and were fortunate to have the refs on their side against Argentina. That's why Italy will probably lose to Germany on Tuesday, the refs. I guess they'll just have to be ''lucky'' one more time. Germany better hope they don't have to go to penalty kicks against them, especially the way Buffon is playing. Remember this. Italy has only given up 1 goal so far in the tournament, against the U.S.,which they actually scored on their own net,so in essence,Italy has been perfect on defense.Defense wins championships, and Italy has the best, you can't argue that.

It is good that you already have prepared your excuse as to why Italy will lose to Germany.:D
The one task the italien team excell in is diving; I expect we will see a lot of that against Germany.
Actually, you are right in that the referee gave Germany the benefit of doubt a few times.

How can you say their defense is PERFECT, if they scored on their own net.

Ummm Brazil has given up only 1 goal to so does that make their defense world class?
And of course no one is saying anything about the Azzuri because they proved their worth today. Sheesh

exactly why I have no respect for this sport....they're all actors, 1/2 step above WWE with all the diving, stretchers coming out to get players..I've seem more stretchers on the field for "injured" players watching replays of this yrs World Cup on Sportscenter than I have in my 35 yrs of wathcing Sunday NFL football games and HNIC combined.....fuckin wusses...

Easily crushed Ukraine ? Watch the second half again. Italy's second goal was clearly offside and Ukraine was extremely unlucky not to equalize. They had two glorious chances when it was 1-0 and they hit the crossbar after Italy's second goal. So it could have been easily be 1-2 instead of 2-0. The ref needed glasses and he was on Italy's side as much as Michel was on Germany's side. At the end he didn't give a penalty to Ukraine after Shevchenko was fouled.

I'm not preparing any excuses because Italy will win against Germany. They know how it works. The host country is always given some slack from the officials and that is expected. Italy will slow the pace of the game with ball control and will use their defense to keep the Geman team off the board. If Buffon plays like he's been doing,it will be a long day for Germany.

You should watch the highlights again. In respect to Italy's second goal which was not offside. The ball was kicked from the side as Luca Toni came from the centre to headball it into the far right corner.

I don't need to watch it again because I saw it ten times already. Maybe you need to see it again. Look at the replay from the side. It is clearly offside. If you know the rules of course :)
