I got my teacher pregnant when I was 13. Everyone calls her a predator... but I made the first move... wants her charges dropped

'They need to drop all charges. I wasn't groomed or raped or manipulated by her. She never initiated anything,' he told DailyMail.com.

'I started everything. If it was up to me she wouldn't have been in jail. It's been six or seven years. I'm 19 about to be 20.'
...
The teen, who blamed his father for the investigation, said that Caron was actually a positive influence in his life.

“I love her with all my heart,” he said. “She was there for me and my family.”

It’s true that the age of consent in Canada was 14 for most of its history until it was raised to 16 in 2008 under Stephen Harper’s government. There was a brief exception in the late 19th century when it was temporarily set at 12 or 13 before being standardized at 14 in 1890.

There is a broader cultural shift in how young adults, particularly women, are portrayed in the media. Many 21-24-year-old women are sometimes framed as if they lack full agency, particularly in cases involving relationships with older men. The Patrick Brown case is an example where allegations from younger women, despite being legally adults, were treated with a framing that suggested a power imbalance akin to much younger individuals.

On the other hand, female criminals historically received less media attention or were portrayed differently than their male counterparts. However, this trend has shifted somewhat, with more attention given to cases involving women, particularly in high-profile crimes.

Some adults who should know better are soooo dumb! Doesn't matter how consensual it was, by law the kid is a minor while the adult is a teacher in a position of authority. Like it or not "Go to jail, go directly to jail, DO NOT pass GO, DO NOT collect $200. And yeah, I'd do the teacher but I'm probably too old for her. :(

We have all fantasized a hot teacher.
But where did her brain go? lol.
He is still a minor and she shouldn't have.
Karma. They probably promised themselves in the past life to be together now and here is the result, when both sides didn't have control.
Better have fun now before hitting the wall for the guy.

I was thinking how rarely you ever hear about a story like that where nobody opens their trap and they get away with it. (for obvious reasons) However, in this case, hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

You hear it among male friends, colleagues, and such.

The encounters are always remembered fondly, which makes sense given it's a young man's fantasy come true.

Here is the basic problem in the U.S.

It is trend of holding school districts liable for the actions of teachers, which draws in the lawsuits years later.

Sometimes it is legally or practically too late for criminal charges, but not civil actions, which appears to be the case with Tiffany, the coach‘s daughter who did most of the football team.

I guess the kid’s dad in Laura Caron’s situation figures there is enough in potential Money Damages to make it worth it to potentially damage his relationship with his son, forever. And displacing his grandchild if Laura goes to prison.

It doesn’t make sense to most of us, but money is a huge consideration for a lot of people.

If the U.S. ever legally limited the liability of School Districts, you would see fewer of these cases in the news.
