Was wondering if anyone else has come across this or can help me out here.

I bought a 2GB SD card from factory direct which was really cheap and was for my pda. Now, my notebook is equipped with an sd card slot and well when I put the SD card into my pda the pda recognizes it without a problem but when I place it into my notebook nothing happens. No window box pops up giving me access to the card. When I go into my computer and click on SD removable drive my notebook hangs and nothing happens. I rebooted and tried it again and the same thing.

At first I thought it was because it was a no name brand sd card but I mean even my pda can read the card including my digital camera.
So, I eventually sold that sd card and bought a brand new Sandisk brand 2gb sd card and well my pda recognizes it but when I placed it into my notebook once again my notebook was hanging as if it was trying to read the sd card but to no avail. :(

I don't get it. My notebook won't even let me reformat the card or anything.
It really bugs me can I have a 512mb Lexar sd card and when placed in my notebook there are no problems.

Anybody else encounter this or give me some pointers here. Thanks.

I know some cameras hang on cards bigger then 1 gig and older...maybe 3 years often hang on bigger then 512..... it be an issue of updating drivers for your card reader on your laptop or possibly the os it self.

XP doesn't usually have problems.

Are you sure you're inserting the SD in correctly? Don't think this is a stupid question... a lotta people put'em in upside down.

Your signature pic is mesmerizing.

Gawd, yes I am inserting the SD correctly. My 512mb Lexar card has no problem being recognized by my notebook, but seems to choke on the 2GB SD card.

Do I need to buy separate card reader or something?
