How long will it be before we discover that Brazil has weapons of mass destruction and will have to be invaded by Haliburton, whoops, I mean the US?

Plus the Religious Right Nazis division of the GOP are incensed at the pagan lewd and lascivious behavior of them Brazilian hotties. Pat Robertson thinks it's time for a holy crusade to save them from the 'evils of the flesh'.
Time to outlaw Brazilian thongs, waxings and carnival.
Time to rescue them and send in Halliburton.....opps I mean the US troops to make things 'right', like in Iraq....

Not a chance. Exxon/Mobil/Texaco will make sure of that.

When I was there 2 years ago, the price in Venezuela was around $0.08. In the official liost here http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/global_gasprices/
it appears to be $0.12 ( and that is in the weak $US)

Since when does oil supply going up have anything to do with prices going down? If supply goes up too much the refineries can have an "unexpected maintenance" problem.

And just because it is in the ground doesn't mean that the oilcos will extract it. That is why Alberta has the rule that if an oil co does not pull the oil up within 5 years then they lose their lease and another company can jump in...the Newfies aren't allowed the same rule by Harper.

Good point sailor: reminds me of the energy "crisis" back in the 70's....wasn't that there wasn't any oil, just ahab the arab wasn't producing any.

I bet if they really wanted to, they could produce enough oil to bring the price down to $0.65 per litre but then, they wouldn't be reaping in trillions of dollars in profits.....

I'm waiting for the next big discovery of "Powder" !!!

Seriously,,this is great for Brazil as they are 100% self suffcient in fuel thru there commitment to ethanol, thus more supply of the strategic commodity for the rest of the world and an increasing trade surplus for Brazil !!!

... read "Twilight in the Desert".

And, there was a recent article about the Grand Banks of Nfld- the field(s) are watering out:eek: .

Read the details on the Brazilian field- it was not easy or cheap to find, and it will not be easy or cheap to pump.
