How to tell if a text number is coming from an app?

Funny the sps use them but if we have one it's a no no
I kind of get it from an SP's point of view. It's much easier for someone to make nuisance calls from an app than a real phone. On the other hand, an app provides more privacy to the user (whether SP or client). I use a text app for that reason and have to accept that it keeps me from seeing some ladies.

To answer the OP, numbers starting with 613-60_ and 613-777 make me suspect a phone app. But I don't really care
Neverknow said it: The SP wants to filter out fake calls. (As if there were no-shows in the Ottawa area, lol).
There was a previous thread about the pros and cons of using text apps, I don't want to go too far that way, but having a second line to a phone only accessible by a pin is a low cost guarantee of privacy for hobbyists and SPs alike. Too bad some malicious jokers spoiled things for all.

SPs have their requirements/boundaries regarding bookings, communication, etc. Clients can either accept those requirements or not. Most who do not accept those requirements simply move on with no issues. Problems occur when guys don't accept requirements and then try to get the SP to relax those requirements. Unfortunately, phone apps are used by these types of guys, or those who are out to cause harm by fake bookings which is all to prevalent here in Ottawa. While it is an inconvenience for the clients, it is just the nature of things.

It's just a minor guideline for me. I just know that many SPs have 604 as the middle digits and I have been confirmed by a couple of girls that it was an app. My own text now number starts with 777. Like I said, it's no big deal for me if a text comes in from a real number or not. But SPs don't see things the same way.

Mine isn't any of those middle digits. But one provider flagged it as fake.
