There is no easy solution to saving money on gas. My usual mileage per week is 400 - 500 km, Last week I drove 230 km and cut my driving down to half along with my gas bill. In Europe where gas has been expensive for years, people are more careful with their driving and gas consumption. It is simple, minimize your driving, plan your trips. Do more than one errand per trip, cut down on unnecessary driving. It was quite easy to do. I plan to keep this up as long as I can.

Also, change driving habits.
Such as, slamming the gas pedal (we know y'all look cool in our car, but it's not a race) and avoid filling up the tank to the top (a full tank weighs down the car)

I don't think an extra 50 kg of gas on a car with a mass of 1500-2000 kg is going to have that much impact.

instead of driving half way across the city to see your favorite incall SPs, just fuck the girl next door.

I agree, I'm a contractor and can easily drive less than 200kms a week. In fact I rotinly don't drive at all for 3-4 days and sometimes a whole week. I combine my estimates, work only locally and ofter ride my bike...living downtownish, I find it much easier to just walk or bike. When I'm on the highway I set the cruise control to 100k and forget about it. Which can be hard when you have a 4x4 with a 5.7 hemi

the hobby needs more capitalism
Keep your tires inflated, no need to accelerate quickly, drive only when its essential (no need to drive to Costco to buy one item) and try to drive routes consisting as many right turns as possible.

Kitty there's a whole subculture about saving gas. Ultra-mileage or something. There are websites dedicated to it if you want to search around. They give tips like the ones you mentioned, as well as others - don't carry extra gear in your trunk, coast down hills, tire inflation, all that shit. Worth looking for the websites
if you really want to save on gas.

Move closer to your work and plow the fuel savings into your mortgage. The difference between a 10 min drive to work and a 45 min drive in heavy traffic, twice a day, really adds up to a lot of savings. Literally cut your gas bill in 3 and put the rest of the money into your home equity.

A few years ago I took a long trip with hwy driving. I decided that I would drive the whole way at the speed limit where practical, acelerate slowly and when possible to safely, follow large trailers. On a car that normally got around 650km a tank I got well over 900 km on that tank. It worked out to almost 19km per litre. I was pretty stunned at how dramatic the difference to regular driving.
