Police pepper spray and taser. Which is worse? In training don't all officers have to be on the receiving end of a taser shock to understand its power? Have you ever been pepper sprayed or tapered?

This man was pepper sprayed in Quebec and circumstances are unclear why.

In general -- yes it is a standard part of their training, many in the Armed Forces have also gone through such training. No it doesn't tickle, neither is it the end of the world. Interestingly the solvent for capsaicin is whole milk.

A couple of years ago, a movie SFX operator discharged a stale-dated canister out a third floor window of a small office building, so he could re-fill it with something harmless. We felt it in the first floor production offices, but tried to carry on, choking, gasping and streaming from eyes and noses. The folks on the floor between knew nothing of the cause of their sudden discomfort, called 911 and the building was evacuated for a couple of hours until the Fire Department gave the 'all clear'. The crowd on the sidewalk was ugly.

You don't want to receive either weapon, that's why police use them instead of deadly force. Because surviving is the only good part of the experience.

I have 2 Cop friends who were pepper sprayed as part of their training. They do this so if they're ever asked at trial if they know what it's like to be pepper sprayed, they can say yes.

One friend, who's white said it was the worst experience of his life. Another is Asian and he said it was no big deal. Washed up and went for lunch. I've heard the lighter your skin, the more it affects you. In the case of my two friends, it proved true.

It's more individual than racial or ethnic...2 colleagues and myself got sprayed...I think it was over a terb review...lol...anyhow me and one mate burned, could hardly breathe...but the other one literally shrugged it off. The bloke who sprayed us said a small percentage of people are immune or just dont react. But then again the immune guy always did the old Technicolour Yawn when hungover whereas we others never did.

I'd rather be pepper sprayed than hit by a horse, experienced both.

Capsaicin used properly adds depth of flavour to food. Too much of it....Shaq be Shaqtin a bidet!

If I had a choice, I'd take a taser shot. I don't want stuff burning my eyes!
And you would've made a wrong choice. While pepper spray/tear gas are very uncomfortable, if you remain calm, you can still function-physically and mentally Taser, not so much.

100% taser over pepper spray. Taser would be done in an instant, pepper spray Id be messed up for 30min+ (source: everyone I’ve know whose had both) and I don’t know about this whole race thing people are saying, getting pepper in your eyes no matter what race hurts.

I've been pepper sprayed (technically military CS gas), and although it was very unpleasant, I think I would prefer repeating that over a Taser. (Have had many electric shocks from different sources over the years up to approx 20000 Volts)

The only time I've been shocked came from this old ass lamp my parents had.

When you turn the small on/off knob your hand would get zapped unless you tightened the bulb or socket. I forget. But if it got used a bit, the thing would loosen up and it would eventually lead to a zap. The shock would go into your hand and maybe halfway up the forearm. Turn it off, tighten it up and it was fine. lol

I think pepper spray is worse.

Have you ever cut hot peppers and wiped your eye beforr washing? Pretty bad but i figure pepper spray is more intense.

Anybody have a pool? Ever open the lid of chlorine and accidentally take wiff? Burns the lungs, tons of coughing.
I realize that is chlorine not pepper spray.

But combine those two sensations and magnify it and i think that is not a fun day.

Somebody posted their friend shrugged it off. I think they didnt catch a blast to the face or they are lying.

I have guven myself shocks while doing electrical work it tingles and muscles clench. That is not fun either but i feel eye, nose, throat and lunf irritation is a worse sensation.

Had 1 guy who was immune to it at the same time I was exposed. He was delegated to go back it to the chamber without a respirator and sweep up the floor.

I kind of want to try the Carolina Reaper chip.

Paqui's ghost pepper chips are pretty tasty.

I'm somewhat addicted to capsaicin, but it's got to have flavour. Maple and Habanero go together like oil and vinegar.

This is a good thread! Very interesting because it’s something I’ve actually wondered before too lol
I wonder which is worse... I’m guessing pepper spray. That shit would be horrible to get in the eyes and breathe in. Probably takes a good day or 2 to settle down and leave the body.

I will read the thread to see why the man in Quebec was pepper sprayed now I’m curious. Never heard about that story. This world is such a crazy crazy place!!

Review: Pepper Spray

I lost a bet and got tasered a couple years ago by a sales rep of a well-known taser manufacturer. The experience wasn’t great. Kind of like being super drunk and getting hit really, really hard the face, so hard you pass out for a second... Sobers you up quick, but you may not be ready to fight after it. I can see why crazy people would calm right down with it.

I’ve been pepper sprayed a couple times, and have been affected by pepper spray a bunch of times. Nothing weird, just protests or innocent bystander or outdoorsy shit more often when abroad. Got a face full of bear mace in a random trail accident.

It’s hard to describe. Like really concentrated and pepper tasting tear gas - like your face is right over the canister. Or like cutting up the strongest hot peppers you’ve probably tried, then mashing them into your eyes while you drank horseradish sauce.

If you didn’t tase me in the genitals or eyes, I think I’d take it 10/10 times over police or bear pepper spray within effective range.
