How long before Spezza gets traded by Ottawa?

Word has it that Spezza and Murray just don't get along. Now that Murray's the man, I'm sure he'll trade him and get some great value in return. Murray's not JFJ, he'll make sure he gets the better of the deal. So when do you think it'll happen? Saturday?, this summer?, or before Christmas?

Bye Bye Spezza...

I agree.....I don't think Murray will ever get over the imitations that Spezza did....apparently bang on with that "wet S".....and he got caught quite a few times......

He is gone.....dont know where though.....any ideas??

What imitations? Please explain. Thanks.
During Ottawa's slump before Christmas, it was widely reported that Spezza had been openly imitating coach Murray's lisp in and around the dressing room.

Pierre McGuire reported to NBC Sports that in game 5 of the finals, he was down around the Ottawa bench late in the second period and overheard a very heavy heated exchange between Spezza and the coach. He said the language was unreal.

Spezza and Murray are like oil and water...

Bye Bye Spezza.

Spezza won't come cheap. Whoever gets him will pay through the nose both in prospects and cutting him a new deal... Things will be pretty interesting. Just think of the players that would go to Ottawa in this deal...

The Leafs can only dream of being in that type of control of a deal!

Actually, you know who might be a good trading partner? I could see San Jose trading Patrick Marleau for him.

I believe he'll learn to play a more complete game in the western division. I think that's where he'll end up.

Bye Bye Spezza

San Jose? But Spezza's kind of a Joe Thornton clone. Great passer, not that fast, etc. Also, I think that the imitations might be overblown. Spezza only started to flourish under Murray, and the guy is still a kid - I think it'd be really shortsighted if they make a big deal about this.

Love it when us leaf fans talk about totally unrealistic trades, like the guys who phone into the fan and say JFJ should trade Antroturd for ... (anyone). Even better when someone from Ottawa eggs it on and starts making us believe a Tucker-Spezza trade could happen.

Wow, that's shockingly weak and immature. I don't know how you pay him back for that one? Maybe when the trade is announced they can get the TV stations play a medly of all the boneheaded back-passes that cut short at least 10 Senators rushes in games 1 & 2 of the final?

Kathleen, you're dead wrong on Spezza going to Anahiem, they have no interest in a player like him, especially Burke. Spezza has fueded with coaches his whole career, he's a Craig Janney type player, perimeter player with flashes of brilliance but also disappears quite easily.

Emery, I think he's an average goalie that faced three pretty easy teams, don't know if you can win with him. He's got to lay off the cool boy Dion Sanders shit until he proves himself, he's not primetime yet. Get rid of Niel too, I can't stand him. Bury Spezza in Pheonix, Murray hates him.

Ex69, please don't compare Spezza to Thorton or especially Lecavalier.

Feuds that go right back to the OHL days...remember the fight he had with the Icedogs/Cherry? He is not much better than Lindros with fighting his coaches/organizations. Brian Burke would however likely be the only GM in the league that could straighten him out.

No way Spezza can even tie skates for Thorton or Lecavalier....not yet anyhow

Tucker playing for the Sens would have helped Anahiem, he's soooo overated.

Why would Ottawa trade Spezza for Kariya when Kariya is an unrestricted free agent?
Spezza is young and developing. He'll only get better. It took Thornton and Lecavalier a long tine to fully develop. I think they will keep him.
I don't see Spezza going to Nashville. They don't want to acquire talent, just prospects and picks for the move North. It's like 'Major League' if you know the movie.

Makes sense for a trade to San Jose for Marleau, or possibly to Tampa Bay for Brad Richards (but Richards would cost a lot more).

Perhaps Edmonton would have some interest in Spezza, trade the Sens some young players like Raffi Torres and Ales Hemsky for Spezza.

How about a blockbuster deal? Ottawa sends Spezza and Redden to the Oilers for Hemsky, Ladislav Smid, Torres and the #15 pick in the draft? Sens then go after a free-agent centre like Briere, Drury or Gomez to replace Spezza. They'd have a hole on the blueline with Redden's departure, but I think they have the depth to handle that.
