Can someone tell me how to take a snapshot of my computer screen in Windows?
I'm more familiar with the Mac and often used this feature.

Cobster: Hey thanks - great tip. I've always used a utility to do this, but never realized the print screen button would snapshot directly to the copy buffer.

MUCH appreciated!

I remember on the Mac, you just pressed three buttons and you heard a camera click. You didn't need to open a paint programme, the file was already created - very cool!

For the Mac
* Command-Shift-3: Immediately takes a picture of the entire screen.
* Command-Shift-4: Changes the cursor into crosshairs. Drag the crosshairs over a section of the screen, then release the mouse button to capture the shaded area.

Obviously you like the Mac, I am seriously contemplating, (if I ever need a laptop), to get a powerbook. Other than games (which really isn't good on laptops), how do you like Apple for surfing and other stuff?

I don't notice a difference with surfing, that's more of a browser issue and the most common ones work on both. I can still use iTunes and the iPod, viruses are more common, I'm still not used to the user unfriendly file system on Windows.
I'm not familiar with Safari, I left the Mac environment about 5 years ago when it was stolen in a break-in. That was a blessing in disguise, it was an ancient Mac IIsi and I got the full price I paid from insurance - over three thousand bucks for an obsolete machine. :D

If you just want to capture the active window, press and "alt" and "prt sc" simultaneously. You can also paste into MS Word, Powerpoint etc if you prefer.

If you paste into Powerpoint, you can then "save as" a jpeg file instead of powerpoint.
