any help will be appreciated :p
I am on DSL from bell. When I got my dsl they told me I can't fax while I am on the net. I have to physically disconnect or turn the network card off ( bios). Then I can fax.

You may have to diconnect the modem/dsl system and plug the phone jack fromt he wall to the modem to fax.

find it on the answer on the web.

That is complete bullshit.

You do not have to disconect anything or turn off the network card.

You can fax and be connected to the internet at the same time. I do it all the time.

You must have a fax modem in or connected to your computer, with a phone jack connected too, and a fax program installed, such as Microsoft Fax (which comes with Windows anyway)... now there are 2 ways to fax:

1. Write up the document using Word or another word processing program, and print to FAX instead of printing regularly. That's it, fax it from there.

2. Scan the document to your computer and again, print to the fax.

Absolutely no need to disconnect anything from anything... the only time you'll need to do that is when you only have 1 phone jack/cable to use, therefore you'd have to take it out of the net modem and plug it to the fax modem.

Bullshit. Faxing is done via a different communications port. Fax via a fax/modem card, DSL is via ethernet.

I fax dozens of times a day while online. And I receive faxes to my computer automatically while running DSL

You don't even need a fax modem these days to fax from your computer, just an internet connection. I use efax from efax.com -- there are a few similar services out there you can hunt around for, but efax works great. There is a monthly subscription for a fax number, which can be a 1-800 number if you like or it can be your local area code, and you get a fixed number of faxes per month.

If you download their free version you can just receive faxes in your email (their software is used to read the fax, but you can export it to PDF format) but you won't have send capabilities. With the subscription version you can attach any kind of file to fax -- PDF, jpg, and I think Word and RTF too. If you travel on business this is a great solution for faxing away from your office.

I just wish they could direct faxes to specific email boxes based on extension dialed -- that way a company could just have one account but have every employee have their own fax number with extension. I might write to them to suggest this.
