How do I burn rented movies?

I've never done it before, I know you need to DL software that will compress the movie and get around the copyright bullshit.
Someone told me to use NERO.
What is the best software to DL. And can I fit 2 dvds on 8.5GB discs.

Either a blowtorch or propane lighter really works well

One thing that works for me is to use the term "+freeware" in a Google search in order to avoid trial software/shareware that might limit features or put a watermark etc. across the end product. I've used dvdshrink and I believe dvdfab successfully as well.
