I did not listen to the interview but I was wondering if Tom Brady was in-studio at the time of the interview?

Primetime sports and McCowan are very well known in this industry ... Nothing against Brady but McCowan has interviewed guys like Ali at his home on a one on one .... Also heck Brady could be pissed with American media with their lack of privacy that he may have done this too piss them off..
Actually I was listening to WEEI out of Boston today and they were ripping McCowan and Jim Kelley, laughing their asses off at how the interview went down. I listen to the station on occasion, obviously because it covers Boston sports, but there were times when I wanted to be able to reach into my computer and grab those guys by the freaking neck and choke the life out of them. They mocked the entire interview, mostly because of the line of questioning; how the interview started out talking about politics and a trip to Africa, then after several minutes, finally a question on Brady's health, which was a segway to a discussion of this product and then McCowan's injury. Curt Schilling made his debut on the station today and he was even in on this, saying he never would have lasted as long as Brady during an interview like this.

I wish I could have gotten ahold of the Fan590 while these guys at WEEI were replaying the interview on air so they could listen to their commentary.

Now here is the real reason ....

Bob McCowan had the sametime of injury as Brady and has gone through the same type of surgeries ... He and Brady use a same product that has helped both Bob and Brady after the surgery and the company hooked Bob and Brady up with this interview ...

toxin-free sports cream is the product ..
Yep, that is correct guyroch. It was almost by accident that Mccown landed this interview. He uses some product for some surgery he did last year on his knee and he was speaking with a rep from the company and the rep told Bob that Brady is using the same product and asked Mccown if he wanted to have Brady on his show and Bob obviously said yes.

I too was initially surprised that Mccown was able to land Brady as he doesnt do many interviews and megastars like that are very hard to get to do a radio interview. Its not like Mccown is one of the top sportscasters in North America, he is in Canada but there are probably 100 or more guys in the States that are better than Mccown. But I guess we now know how he got the interview.

It actually doesnst surprise me that the Boston media mocked Mccown. I listen to quite a lot of sports radio, most of it south of the border because the FAn590 local programming just doesnt hold my interest much of the time. There is a very big difference Ive noticed between guys like Mccown and his counterparts in the United States. Mccown , even though he works for a sports station, he tends to focus on things like the business of sports and things related to sports but not necessarily the games themselves. Other than Toronto sports, I rarely hear Mccown discussing actual games.
IF this interview were done south of the border I can guarantee that the line of questioning would have been far different and more football related and more indepth questions on football. When Mccown does actually talk about sports his questions are just extremely general.

I remember one time I called into talk to Bob and I asked him what his thoughts were on James Laurinaitis and he didnt even know who I was talking about. This coming from a guy who proclaims to be a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Sure, whatever you say Bob.

Well this is no different when JP leaks stories to Boston press and Canada papers get it second hand .... Heck Calderon and Garbo talk to Spanish press all summer and so I don't know why Boston is so ticked off ...

I hope American media realized that Bob hates interviewing athletes cause they are usually boring interviews with cliche's all over the place ...

I think they might be ticked off not because that they didnt get the interview but because Mccown had Brady on his show, and Brady doesnt do a lot of radio interviews and MCcown asked him almost nothing about football other than "are you surprised the Cards made it this far?". I mean why is Nelson Millman paying MCcown the big bucks, to ask questions like that? I'll find a 10 year old kid that can ask the same questions and Millman can pay him with popsicles. I dont think the Boston media would have been as ticked off had Mccown actually sounded like he knew football. Listening to this interview it just sounds like Brady is being interviewed by some guy that doesnt even watch football.

There is such a vast difference between US sports radio and Canadian sports radio that its not even funny. Everytime I listen to ESPN radio, when they have athletes on , they are asking indepth questions about games or plays or stuff about the team.

Actually Bob Mccown is well respected in sports radio and is in fact regarded as one of the best in North America, not just Canada. I think it was only 2 years ago he was given an award as the best sports radio host including all of the states(don't know the name of the award).

Oh I think he does good interviews and asks good questions but the thing is, most of his guests are there to talk about things such as stadiums being built or some guy trying to buy a hockey franchise in nashville or fighting in hockey or things of that nature. Most of his interviews has to do with issues in sports instead of actual sports itself. He certainly asks great questions in those interviews but to me he doesnt seem anywhere near as knowledgeable as the guys in the States. I mean he is a Browns fan and doesnt even know the players on his own team. And there are too many times where I hear Bob saying "oh that game put my feet to sleep". Seems like everything puts his feet to sleep.

Brady probably enjoyed it, athletes are asked the same questions over and over again. Something different is probably refreshing. What would Brady tell us about football we don't already know.

Well I think the two questions that everyone in the United states wanted to know was if he would be ready for training camp in time and also if the infection that happened in his surgery has slowed down his rehab any. Those were 2 key questions that I thought Bob should have asked him and instead he was talking about a cream that they both use for their knee or something. Maybe I'm just too anti-Bob and try to pick apart his interviews too much. For real though when I listen to American Sports radio there is such a big difference in american sports radio compared to canadian sports radio.
