How are the border crossing times back to the U.S.

I just thought of something about my upcoming trip to Canada, the current sequester fiasco.

I'll probably have to ask this again at the end of the month, but I am wondering how badly the reduced staffing has affected border crossings back to the U.S. Last time I was in Toronto the line of cars took about 45 minutes.

I don't expect much of a change going to Canada from the Niagara Falls area to head to Toronto, but do expect a delay coming back. Has anyone who has made the trip within the past few weeks noticed a problem with traffic backing up?

I cross a lot and haven't seen much of a change. All depends on when you go, but the biggest waits have always been going into Canada, not into the US.
800-715-6722 is the number for wait times on the Niagara bridges. Lewiston is usually the worst, Rainbow not so bad.

On a related note, the U.S. is looking at extending "Snowbird" eligibility to 8 months from the current 6 months (but will a U.S. tax return be required?).

This is a good one to look at .You can even see a video . Just click on Video .

I cross all the time . Sometimes the line is short going to the US and long coming back home . It can be the other way around at times . I've crossed at times where the line to Canada is long but 2 hrs later it's short.

Weekends and holidays are bad . During the week is best but like all ways you take your chances .

My problem is that I always pick the slowest line .

If your schedule is flexible, take advantage of the low times when crossing either side is easy. When I do my 48 hr. runs to the US I go on Thursdays and leave at about 10:00 AM. Waiting at the border 10 min at the most, and sometimes I breeze right through. I return on Saturday before 3:00 PM. Very little traffic at the border in the early afternoon.

Thanks, so it sounds like the sequester hasn't affected times. Which is good. I normally cross the border during non peak hours, I was just wondering if I need to modify my normal crossing times. I'll be entering Canada the Saturday of Memorial day weekend and will be crossing back during mid afternoon the next weekend, so I should be good.
