Holy Zeus!!! The Sabres must have gotten their legs back tonight!!! 7 goals against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second period still with more than two minutes remaining!!! Tampa Bay, currently at 9th place in the Eastern Conference, is no bottom feeder such as Philadelphia. Wonder whether the young Sabres will have their legs left this coming Wednesday against the Maple Leafs???

There's something the Bills can't do too often... score 7 in a quarter/period! :)

LOL!!! Interesting point!!! The good doc thinks the Sabres only play one period of good hockey. The first and third periods are just so so. If they play a full 60 minutes, they probably could score two touch downs worth of goals. May be they should go play football for the Buffalo Bills. LOL!!! Seriously, the Sabres need to play consistently good for 60 minutes to beat good teams. Wonder when they will start doing that???

Interesting Statistics

So far, the Sabres (17-3-1) lead the NHL in points (35). They are undefeated in regulation against every division they played but their own. Toronto beat the Sabres once and Ottawa twice. The Sabres will play Toronto at home tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if that trend will continue. The good doc is wondering whether the Sabres statistician is pointing out this interesting feature to Lindy Ruff and his team.

The Crash Of The Titans Tonight

It is Sabres vs Maple Leafs. The Leafs have been very impressive so far, currently second in the Northeast Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference. They are chasing the Sabres in standings. Last time when the two teams met, the Leafs dominated the Sabres. This game shapes up to be a great one. Obviously the Leafs want to win over the Beast of the East to further boast their confidence and standing. The good doc does not believe the Sabres want to lose this one. Chances are the Sabres want to redeem themselves tonight. Now the good doc wonders what is the chance of sitting right next to my dear Kathleen darling and both enjoying the game. :p LOL!!!

A Wild And Amazing Affair!!!

Tonight’s game is much closer than the score (7 to 4) shows in favor of Buffalo. It was a wild, nail-biting, toss up game, until the last few minutes. The Maple Leafs gambled then and the Sabres scored two empty net goals. Toronto actually played very well and played Buffalo tough for sure. The way the Leafs played, the good doc will be very surprised if they do not go to playoffs. Buffalo was constantly shorthanded more so than Toronto. Playing six rookies did not help the Sabres and Mike Ryan the called up from Amerks tonight scored a goal for Toronto. (Tough luck Mike!!!) At least the Sabres kept their composure and kept playing hockey. It was very, very strict officiating and almost excessive penalties for this game. Why don't the referees get together and standardize their penalty calling practice in all games???

Know how to keep the Buffalo Bills out of your back yard?

Paint the grass to look like an end zone.

The good doc disowned the Buffalo Bills ever since the two golden boys (Wilson and Levy) kept shooting themselves and the team in the foot. For this season anyway, the Buffalo Sabres will be the only hope in professional sports to win big for Buffalo.

The Sabres Has Become Very Ordinary!!!

Perhaps the lethargy bug hits the Sabres on the road games. Of the three they played so far, they lost two and won one. They were dominated by the Capitals in the 7-4 loss. Against the bottom feeder in the Southeast Division, the Sabres played like they were no match for the Panthers and lost 3-1. If so, tough times are ahead against very tough oppenents. Someone got to wake them up by whipping the team's collective ass!!! Shall the good doc hire our beloved Kathleen to do the job??? *Wink, wink*

I absolutely loved Thomas Vanek having the nerve to take a slapper at Huet in the shootout... I never seen that one coming.... and neither did Cristobal!!!

Vanek actually scored 2 to 3 goals like that in the shootouts in last years preseason games.

The nhl had shootouts after every preseason game last year regaurdless of the outcome.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent.
The Bills stampeded the Jets today 31 to 13. If they would have beaten the Chargers last week. They would be in the playoff hunt. But now with a record of 6-7, although not mathematically eliminated, it is probably too late. But again, you never know. There is still a glimpse of hope. LOL!!! Back to the Sabres, it will be interesting to see them score at least a touch down worth of goals in every game they play. LOL!!!

Hey, it is never a bad thing to pull a surprise shot on the opponent's goalie, especially when it works.

The Slumping Sabres Against Montreal!!!

Not because they suffered their first consecutive lost to Ottawa and then Montreal, but more because they have not been the same since after their 16days 10 games schedule. Now Montreal is only 5 points behind the Sabres for first place in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo just have not been playing like a champion team whereas Montreal was sharp in offense, power play, with suffocating defense. May be the Sabres are taking a nap but they better wake up soon and start playing what they are capable of. If not, teams are going to march by them.

Sabres vs Predators

The Sabres came to play this time and took the Predators to the cleaners 7 to 2. Towards the end of the game, Nashville center Scott Nichol was given a game misconduct in addition for some other penalties for sucker-punching Jaroslav Spacek in the jaw when he wasn't looking. Perhaps frustration led to unnecessary stupidity as in wonton use of brute force. Wonder how the NHL is going to punish a less known player in Nichol???

Sabres vs Capitals 6-3

There seems to be an interesting winning strategy for the Sabres this game, namely work your opponents long and hard in the first period, score fast and furious goals by half a dozen or more. Then relax a little and let your enemies score a few goals for the rest of the game and you still come out a winner. LOL!!! It can be said that the Sabres has not played a full 60 minutes game for a long time. One wonders if they are saving their energy for the forthcoming playoffs. Ahhh...the law of conservation of energy!!! See, there is only so much energy to give, so conserve as much as you can especially when it is virtually certain that you are winning. LOL!!!

Perhaps beating good teams and losing to bad ones is a way to balance the standing and power ranking in NHL. Indeed the entire Northeast division seems to be caught up in some kind of schizo-affective disorder. For example, after beating an excellent team the Predators 7-2, the Sabres could not muster enough scores to beat the bottom feeder, the St. Louis Blues, losing 3-2. Toronto finally won one tonight against Minnesota after losing three in a row. Ottawa always beat the Sabres but is losing more games than winning. Montreal finally lost one after winning five in a roll. Boston also beat good teams like New Jersey and Montreal but lost to the lowly Blue Jackets. Sometimes you just don't know until the fat lady sings. LOL!!!

How To Beat The Smallish Sabres???

As Toronto's tough guy Wade Belak suggested, you beat the Sabres by beating them up. The good doc better ask Darcy Regier to hire our Kathleen darling to become the Sabres' strength and conditioning coach. ;) In the physical sport of hockey, individual toughness is indeed good but team toughness is better. Wonder whether Belak can beat up the entire Sabres team all by himself. LOL!!!
