Look, I'm basically a frickin tree hugger at heart. I love nature, I think we gratuitously poison our world daily, for profit and convenience, in my life in the city I've logged more miles on my bike and Nikes than my Nissan. Hell, when I'm in a hotel, I don't get the towels changed every day, and hang them back on the rack.

So I check into a reasonably hi end (not the ritz, but solid 4* chain hotel). The (reallllllly sweet little Latina) girl at the checking asks me if I would like to take care of their "green option" or whatever. I say what is this option (cuz she is so cute, and I am after all an environmentalist at heart, and chicks dig that).
So she says " well you can decline housekeeping services, and we will give you 5 bucks to use in the hotel"

So I say "actually I'll take the full housekeeping. Sometimes when I'm in a nice hotel like this, I like to make a liiiiiitle bit of a mess"

The look on her cute face was priceless.

(fucking hotels trying to "greenify" poor service)

They are becoming cheap and cut cost using the green excuse. I use to stay at 4+ and 5 stars hotels. I got tired of being gauge for everything. They charge you for Internet, $6 for a small water, even the coffee in the room is the cheap one. Last week I stayed at the Royal York because I didn't want to drive. Went to the lcbo close by and bought some beer. I pit in in the room fridge. They had the guts to charge me $5 for opening it. Isn't the $350 that I paid for the room enough?

So true! I travel a fair bit for work and as such, have the opportunity to stay at some very nice 4-5 star hotels in NYC, Boston, Chicago, LA and LV regularly... It blows my mind that these places charge through the nose for every little thing...

And yet... I've stayed overnight in Durham region many times for work, (and sometimes a little pleasure as well... ;)), and book a room through Copycraigs, for less than $100/ night with free unlimited supply of towels, free wifi, and free breaky!

Seriously, WTF!

 :hand:

It seems to me the more expensive the hotel, the more they nickel and dime you.The less expensive hotels seem to offer more freebees like wifi, breakfest buffet.Anyone else notice this?
