Here comes the wrecking ball.

The store at Bathurst and Bloor is a Toronto icon, that's for sure. On the other hand, it's not a classic.

But the houses along Markham Street (Mirvish Village) are a real treasure and losing them, along with the street scape they created to another banal glass box will be another Toronto tragedy. Ditto the block at King West and John that Davie Mirvish wants to raze in the name of progress to build his 3 boxes.

Interestingly, the City will not approve David Mirvish's proposal for King West - this from a condo happy city. Apparently, Mirvish is taking his argument to the OMB, where he will probably win as the OMB is pretty much solidly in any Developer's corner. A double tragedy for Toronto. More barren wasteland downtown. (See harbourfront, lower Spadina as shining examples of how to destroy a neighbourhood.)

Maybe the community can take up a petition to stop any "undesirable" development (like the folks did with Wal-Mart).

Why didn't the city buy Ed's and make it a park? Because mayor fatty puck head has the foresight of... nevermind.

Mirvish family should cash in $120 mln and good for them!

Also before the OMB and also doomed to fail (i.e. Walmart will get their approval to build)

The OMB rarely says no to development.
