I started doing this back in the late 1980s, initially out east and eventually here in Ottawa. It was a different game back then. For instance:

• Most cities have some equivalent to the Ottawa Sun, and that tabloid paper was your friend when it came to finding providers. The Citizen equivalents generally thumbed their nose at escort ads. That wasn't the only source - I actually found my first provider in the Yellow Pages of all places. When the Metro type freebies started popping up you could find escort ads there too.
• You could pretty much ignore the byline in the Sun ads, it rarely had anything to do with the provider. You took your chances, and hoped for the best. There were a lot of blah experiences to go through before finding someone worth seeing again.
• Outcalls were far more common. For years it was either my place or a hotel room. I suppose that was due to different LE pressures back then.
• The menu of services was a lot more restricted. Forget about BBBJ, kissing was off the list and even Russian-type finishes weren't very common. Even the separation into 30 minute and hour appointments wasn't there, it was just "get to it and get out".

Things started to change in the late 1990s. I found some great providers here in Ottawa (Victoria and Shannon come to mind), the options started to open up and then the original Lyla forum went online. It's pretty sweet now compared to those days, I'm kind of surprised I stuck with it really.

Remember the dozens of ads occupying 30 or so pages in the yellow pages, but in reality there were only 2-3 agencies/pimps? No pictures, reviews. Nothing. No sure if I ever got a decent session back then.

It was pretty low key and not nearly as in your face like today. Yep 30 or so yellow page ads would go to only 2-3 phone numbers. I'd like to know what is the oldest MP in town? Back when I started there were only a few and most would give you a decent massage. Eastview on Montreal Rd, Triple A (well not so much a good rub), Michelle's (with Michelle and Tracey), Studio 2000 (called A&D back then), Body Senses on Baseline, Tempes on Dalhousie, Natural Point on Somerset, that one on Catnerine and that one on Nepean, Maureen's in Hull and maybe a few smaller ones over there. Here we go down memory lane.

I had a co-op student work-term at Tele-Direct (Yellow Pages) in Scarborough in the late 80s. I was told that one of the escort agency owners would come in and pay for his annual ads in cash!!!

So girls are def making less (and doing more) if you adjust for inflation.

It was a lot more dangerous for the girls back then. So, if you got one over to your place and she liked you, she would ask you to phone her directly "next time" and bypass her pimp/agency. She got a good client and you got a great deal. I had many full service engagements for $80, all in. I also remember that the mileage at the strip clubs seemed to be higher than now. There was this one place East of Mackenzie King and North of Rideau in a small house. Chinese/Asian MP. Man the mileage was good there and also remember Connie and Maggie on Somerset? !!.

I did not know that Studio 2000 was called A&D at one time. What did it stand for, do you remember? This definitely would have been the oldest MP in town if it hadn't closed a couple of years back, as it had been around since the 1960's!

I thought that's what it said on the tenant directory when you got buzzed in. I certainly am going back before the year 2000. They used to be in the first apartment at the left at the top of the stairs then they moved down the hallway to the back. My first times there were with Mila and Carole. I remember seeing a report on the CJOH 11:30pm news on MP's back in the late '70's. Max Keeping was the anchor BEFORE Leigh Chappel so that far back. Anyway I do remember a shot of a topless lady somehow got onto the broadcast elliciting a smile on Max and an apology. Maybe it was about Studio 2000 can't remember but I remember those boobs.
I met a ton of regulars from the old Natural Point. There was Debbie, who gave me one of my first ever BBBJCIMSW's ever in an MP, at a time when I didn't even know that this was allowable from a massage! Also first met Jennifer/Erica here, who later started Erica's Place. Also met Buffy Lee for the first time here, but I did not become regulars with her as much.

I had FS with Cassandra there when they were up on Somerset, door fee and I think $100 back in the mid-90's. Also saw Missy there several times. I some ways I still do my research the same way, over the phone and then meet in person for "reconaissance". Most pix on internet do not do the girls justice. Many are several years old as well.
