Except this is apolitical campaign, a different animal, presently a $2 billion dollar industry with too long a life. You could do what most countries do and limit the time to something more realistic, like 8 weeks and leave the rest of the time for 'actual' governing, which is what these people are paid for. Imagine how much the eastern seaboard could do with that cash.
