Talking about realistic!! No actually I was taking my son to the washroom during a movie and one of the hydralic grey door closers that sit at the top of the door fell on my head!!

It dropped me to one knee and couldn't figure out whatt happend. Then I looked up and saw something hanging down and it's the door closer. Hanging by one screw. Thank god it didn't fall on my son. Anyways I am bleeding pretty bad and ask the employee to call me an ambulance.

He says he has to check with his manager first. But first he wants to go look at the door. I get my son to go back into the movie and wait. Now I ask for an ambulance again still no response. Managers finally arrive with two wet wipes and a roll of gauze.

I am pissed off at this point and the GM arrives and he in full ass covering mode. The ambulace arrives and the EMS people perform first aid and then a security guard shows up to take a report.

He actually asks for my licence and health card. He didn't like my answer. I told him he's going to have to believe me when I tell him my name and address.

I have never seen such a poor example of a company and it's employees handling a customer injury. Thank god I was just bleeding from the head and not having a heart attack. By the time they dicided to call an ambulance I would be probably dead.

The date today is Friday the 13th. I am staying in for the rest of the day.

I second that comment.....they have liability insurance to cover just such occurances.

I do have a couple of questions tho:
1) Did you require stitches? (if so how many)
2) Did you actually ride in the ambulance to the hospital?
3) Did they take x-rays?

If all you needed were a couple of bandaids then I don't think they will settle for anything more than a year pass or something.

Only problem is this isn't the US where they give you a hundred grand for eating a donut whose hole wasn't perfectly formed.

Don't see much too sue for. I didn't need stiches so didn't op for an ambulance ride. There was some negligence on Cineplex's part because the door parts fell on me. I am probabaly going to be offered something insulting.

I am going to call the Cineplex Head Office and chew someones ear off. They GM and his assistant are most likely going to get in trouble. They were pretty much untrained and ineffective in managing the situation. I'm going to talk to the GM's boss and explain in the nicest way what and ass his GM is.

I suspect some insurance company is going to call me. The GM kept saying that we would have to talk about something. I just wanted to go home.

There seemed to be some internal process and calling an ambulance seemed to trigger it. The EMT's also need to write a report and asked to see the object that hit me. The security guard was writing a report because he was called when the ambulance was called.

I know this isn't as bad as what happened to you, but I ate some chicken wings from Loblaws a while back and about 5 hrs later was puking up my insides and (well you know) from the other end....This went on for about 9 hrs and if I could have left the toilet for more n 2 minutes I would have called an ambulance.

Needless to say that I was messed up for a few days and when I contacted Loblaws know what they offerred me? To replace the wings.......DOH

KNow what else they said? They asked me to return the wings so they could test them......I said to the legal rep: "Oh, I never thought you'd want to do that, had I know I could have saved the 4 gallons of puke and 4 gallons of liquid shit. ......"

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing......(but in actuality I think someone DID sue McDonalds because their coffee was too hot, don't know what the result was tho)

It's been good to know ya
Sure it is good to offer free movies to get you in there and pay for their expensive pop corn and pop etc... Don't fall for it I consider that more of a promotion on all their goodies.

Ah yes. That one was ridiculous. As I recall, a woman bought her coffee at McDonald's, got into her car, and put the cup of coffee between her legs as she drove. When she spilled it, it caused serious burns, and she sued McDonald's for the coffee being too hit (like it wasn't her own stupidity that caused the burns). And she won -- a few million if I remember correctly. American legal system baffles me sometimes.

Jury trials in the States always awards ridiculous amounts. The payments are generally always brought down to a reasonable amount on appeal, by judges.

Don't know how much that one went down to, but doubt the woman got her original millions. However it did cost McDonalds millions....redoing the cups to put a caution on it, lost business from dumbasses worried about "hot coffee", and technicians to make sure that the coffee makers were running at a cooler temperature.

I am not really a big movie fan. Maybe 2-3 per year. This was Harry Potter and my wife and kids are fanatical about the Boy Witch. I doubt I will go to another movie very soon.

Movie passes won't impress me. Movie passes for a large group of needy children might though...

I doubt there will be any type of monetary compensation that will impress me. If this was the USA I would be planning my retirement. :D

Where are all the ambulance chasers, I mean lawyers?

You were injured on the theatres property due to their negligence. Make sure you do a follow up with your doctor and report any pain/injuries you maybe suffering from. Head injuries can have long lasting effects.

Then in a couple of weeks or so, get your lawyer to write the company a letter (or you can do it yourself). Wait another week or two and you'll get the first offer. It'll be something like $500.00. Don't respond to it for another couple of weeks, when you'll turn it down. Wait a bit more and they will come back with another offer. If that's not satisfactory, tell them that you are considering filing in small claims.

This should let them know that you are seeking compensation closer to $10,000. If they don't settle at this point, file a claim in small claims court, and watch how fast you get a proper settlement.
