SP3 may have been around awhile.
I run a corporate copy of XP Pro which on bootup says it includes SP3 along with a U-Win Installer. I've had this since 2006 so who knows how long it has been around. Maybe MS is upgrading some features from XP Pro to basic XP. My copy has been extremely stable the time I've used it and can honestly say I can't remember the last time it locked up or farked up.

I think the last RC for SP3 dropped in December. The final SP3 build was released to manufacturers just the other day. I don't know what you had in 2006, but SP3 it was not.

Just saying what I had and still have. During bootup I get a screen saying XP Professional with SP3 & U-Win Installer on a blue screen with the lovely Ashley Judd sitting on the floor, wearing what looks like only a white Univ of Kentucky oversize shirt. She looked so sexy I kept that default pic which lasts a few seconds till it completes its boot then goes to a standard desktop screen.

Did is little digging and found that Ashley Judd pix XP Pro uses: link
She looks better on my PC...

The Software Patch has had SP3 since the later part of 2007. While this was in my opinion a preliminary release, it works and i have installed it without any problems. The good thing is that it can be downloaded to disk and then loaded on to any computer, even one with an unauthorized version of XP.

Where can I get it like this? I couldn't find it on the Microsoft site.

Here is the link. http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/index.html

Every update for XP is on this site. If you download SP3, be sure you have SP2 on your machine.

Good Luck with it. I use it all the time with my repair service.

Just a note that this site is not affiliated with Microsoft. These guys get the updates from them and somehow are able to then provide them to anyone on an individual basis or as a service pack.

From Microsoft you can only download and then update your computer. You can't download SP3 from them and put it on disk.

If you don't need SP3 downloaded to a disk or if your system is legal, go to Microsoft.
