In need of some advice on a nice, somewhat chic but not formal place for lunch in the downtown area.

Preferably but not manditory, italian or full range menu

Thanks

Here are my recommendations:

Four, in Commerce Court (formerly Soul of the Vine)
Jump, in Commerce Court North
Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar, 9 Church Street, south of Front Street (best to make reservation for lunch)

I like the Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar. Extensive wine selection, and the food there is great, tapas-size dishes. Try it.

Here are some reviews:

Rating: 4 Stars for food and service. Affordable wine list, many by are the glass.
Repeat: Yes

I agree that Jump is a good choice. Here is a link to their site with menu and hours, etc.

I'm with CP on this, Four is popular right now - good menu, fair amount of variety and some interesting Bio-dynamic wines. Jump is a standard, good food and atmosphere but not as new and hip. Jamie Kennedy is fresh seasonal ingredients - tapas style, incredible wine selection and you can sit at the chefs bar to watch food be prepared.
Other one I'd add is Vertical, italian food and a nice atmosphere inside, it might have the patio open right now - it's a good size and you can watch the waterfall in First Canadian Place.
