I have a 18 year old cousin coming to visit us for a couple of weeks. We use to be very close, he would look up to me and stuff - thought I was very cool because even though I was much older than he I still acted like a kid. I guess he found that refreshing. It has been 10 years since I saw him and am looking forward to catching up.

Teen lingo changes from generation to generation. In my days, the terms awesome, cool, right on, dude, shit, fuck me, etc were in. What are some of today's teen lingo and what do they mean?

Some teen lingo that I've come across are:

phat - apparently that means 'awesome'
that is money - same as above - I think
bling bling - this means money as in currency - again, I think

Others?

isn't bling bling the visible showing off of jewelry. the chains around the neck, rings, etc. Although using it to describe flaunting of wealth or style could work as well, but it doesn't really mean money.

I only thought it meant money because I saw it in on TV where a guy was rubbing his fingers together on one hand saying 'Bling bling'. I took this to mean 'cash'. Thanks for the clarification.

What up Dawg?
Though I am not in the Pepsi generation, I have some younger friends and I didn't even realize I was using their lingo until I saw a guide to the new street language a few days ago. I guess I started using it with them subconciously.
The best thing to do is learn the words to know what he is saying, but don't try using them yourself or you run the risk of looking like you are trying to hard.\

Platinum teeth
24carat money clips
20 inch dubbs

for pronunciations sake:

Sweet is now more like "sah-WEEEEET"

Similarly, my nefew and his crew now use "Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice", with a gutteral "i" sound.

And for total indifference to any suggestion you make...
"Meh!"

...if you had any wit or intelligence in regards to pop culture or counter culture, you would have realize what I wrote was ran through an Ali G translator (massive staines)....

btw 2 guys playing leap frog in your parent's basement is not considered a crew...it's considered sad.
