I need some help here.

On Friday morning I went to turn on my pc and well, while it was loading into Windows, the monitor just turned off on me and there was a message saying "Video Input : no signal"

I checked all my connections on the monitor and the back of the tower and everything looks plugged in properly.

When I went turn on the pc again, I noticed some strange scan lines scattered on the monitor like there was something wrong with the contrast or something.
Right before it gets to the Windows login page is when the monitor turns off constantly.

Could it be something with the monitor? Something to do with my graphics/video card? I wouldn't think its a virus cause Norton did an entire system scan a few days before and no virus showed up.

I hope I don't have to reformat here.

Any advice or suggestions?

Did you hear any abnormal beeps? If so could be your video card.
If not I would suggest trying a different monitor.
Also you could try booting in safe mode and reinstalling or updating the drivers for video card, you never know they may have been corrupted somehow.

If it boots the os no need to do any formatting, IMHO, but you do have impt stuff backed up right? LOL

More than likely a bad video card. The fan may also have stopped working on the video card as well.

Try reloading the drivers in safe mode as already suggested..if that doesn't work...get a new card.
